I wouldn't know how to change the client ID. I know for sure hotmail blocks mail from Thunderbird (and also SeaMonkey's email client, which is based on thunderbird). I have an old hotmail account, still active even tho I rarely use it. I sent mail to that account using Thunderbird (which is set up with my cox ISP account)...... at least half of what I sent never gets there....however, if I use Outlook Express (which has the same pop/smtp settings) it will always get there. If I use my yahoo webmail, mail will get to hotmail. Most of my contacts do not want gmail (why, I don't know). I think they're afraid of change as they've had hotmail for years. I dislike hotmail, myself.

So, until something changes, I have to use something other than a mozilla based email client if I am to be assured of the hotmail contacts getting my mail ALL of the time.

Good to see Thunderbird back in action...Wonder why it took them so long?

imho thunderbird > outlook

i think the junkmail detection is far better on thunderbird .... only thing i miss is being able to import my hotmail accounts

Thunderbird is a huge letdown compared how much I like Firefox. Outlook 2003 and 2007 are pretty even if they are Microsoft products.

Does Outlook phone home to Microsoft upon start-up for no reason. The answer is Yes.

Most MS Programs out today seem to like to phone-home for no reason(ie. office,Visual Studio..)

Can you give more information? Like if this happens every time, the server it connects to, etc.

The Outlook 2007 installed on my machine didn't go anywhere except my pop mail servers (according to Sysinternal's TCPView).
