Changelog (At least 963, almost a thousand changes over 1.5):

I installed it earlier and been using it, can't right click name and check mail though, maybe you can, just can't find out how to currently.

I found out how to.

Highlight email account name and top left hit 'Getmail'.

Seems better than right click.

Thunderbird 2 seems to be using Aqua widgets... it integrates beautifully into OS X. And I've not had any issues with yet. All my complaints with the 1.x releases seems to have been remedied with Thunderbird 2.

Has Thunderbird 2 finally fixed the major bug of POP servers timing out when trying to send mail? Everytime I try to send a message from my GMail inbox via Thunderbird, it times out and never sends.

Does your provider block/filter SMTP traffic? If you change the SMTP server to be your ISPs instead of Gmail's, does it work? This isn't a Thunderbird bug. It's a provider issue.

The time out when sending used to be a pain on AOL.

Sometimes AOL server refuses to send it for some reasons.

The only time out problems I suffer from with Thunderbird is when I select receive all and they all time out.

I am sure thats AOL server again.

I just check them individually and it works o.k.

No, it was an error at my end. It turns that by default, my GMail account was trying to save the copies into my AOL folders, which won't work since the latter are IMAP. I changed them back to Local Folders and now it works fine.

I have a few questions. This is my first time using TB and I kinda like it so far. But 2 things.

1st is how do I set it up to check my gmail.

2nd is can I make it minimize to my taskbar like you can with outlook? I love this feature and it just shows the new message icon when and a popup when I have new mail. Is this possible with TB2? Or a plugin?

Thanks

1) First, you need to enable POP access within GMail. Secondly, GMail's Help feature also shows you how to properly configure GMail access in Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.

2) Yes, you can install the MinimizeToTray extension to do what you're looking for.

How can I remove the build number from the titlebar? :/

I dont have to see it all the time and I dont like it.

The build number's not there in the default standard build - have you got an extension like NightlyTesterTools installed? This inserts the build number into the title bar, you can turn it off in the options dialog.

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
