here you can see that with just a switch of a driver you can go back and forth.

StainD, quit confusing the dude. you can go from ACPI to Standard but not back to ACPI from Standard PC.

dude, just reinstall.. not format.. just reinstall

Wrong. Who are you to say i'm confusing him, let the man speak for himself.

I'm gonna try to re-install XP again later but using F5 at the text-based setup (when you see 'Press F7 to add SCSI or RAID drivers) so I can add ACPI manually as I don't want to format, has anyone on Neowin try this way of installing ACPI? ....

Thanx :) ....

Radish.

Remember, ACPI will only work if every component is 100% compatible, else ACPI will be buggy.

Well I have upgraded everything in this old PC, like Graphics, Sound, CD-RW etc .... and the manual of the BIOS states it has ACPI on the motherboard, even before the new BIOS upgrade, so I would say my old PC is ACPI Compliant :) ....

If I did install ACPI that way, and then I had problems with stability (crashing etc .... ) on my PC how would I fix that?, would I have re-install XP again using F5 & selecting Standard PC or something like that? ....

Radish.
