Logitech SetPoint 4.00 released for Vista

Recommended Posts

I have no problems with the current set, v3.30.165

I'm all the more hesitant to try these for fear of not being able to get my current configuration back. I initially had issues of the SetPoint software with my MS IntelliType software for my MS Natural 4000 keyboard.

And 60MB, what.the.heck.

32-bit Edition supports: 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista.

64-bit Edition supports: XP Professional x64 & 2003 x64 & Vista x64

Logitech SetPoint supports Windows(R) XP and Windows Vista(TM).

1.1 Standard installation

You must be logged on with administrative privileges to
install this software. Insert the Logitech SetPoint Software CD into your CD-
ROM drive. The installation program should start
automatically. If it does not, browse the CD and double click
the file "SETUP.EXE", located in the root directory of the
  CD-ROM to install the software.

Windows Vista(TM): if an earlier version of Setpoint software
is installed on your system, we recommend you uninstall it
manually. Please refer to section 1.3 of the present readme file
  for uninstallation instructions.

1.2 Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer 6.0 is required for MediaLife.

You will not see the option to install MediaLife if Microsoft(R)
Internet Explorer(R) 6.0 is not installed on your system.

1.3 Uninstall

To uninstall the Logitech SetPoint or Logitech MediaLife Software from
your system, follow the corresponding instructions:

Windows(R) XP: click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon in the Windows Control
Panel, select "Logitech SetPoint" or "Logitech MediaLife" and click the
  "Remove" button.

2. Troubleshooting - General Topics

2.1 Compatibility with Logitech MouseWare(R) and previous Logitech keyboard software

This section is relevant to users who already used a Logitech mouse
or keyboard device on their system and have installed MouseWare or previous Logitech
  keyboard software.

If you are completely replacing your old devices with the new devices,
we recommend that you uninstall MouseWare or previous Logitech keyboard software
  before installing SetPoint.

If you are using one of your older devices and a new device on the same system,
please visit our web site at http://www.logitech.com for instructions on installing
SetPoint along with MouseWare and previous Logitech keyboard software on your
  operating system.

Previous mice are only supported with MouseWare and previous keyboards are only
supported with previous Logitech keyboard software. These devices will not appear in the
SetPoint control panel. Your new mice and keyboards are only supported by SetPoint.
See section 2.2 for Cordless Click! or a Cordless Click! Plus mouse.

If you are planning to upgrade your Operating System to Windows Vista(TM), it is highly
recommended to uninstall the iTouch and MouseWare software prior to performing
the OS upgrade. MouseWare and iTouch do not work in Windows Vista(TM).

2.2 Support for Cordless Click! Mice on Windows(R) XP

For Windows(R) XP users only: If you were using Logitech
MouseWare with a Cordless Click! or a Cordless Click! Plus mouse, installing SetPoint
on top of MouseWare will transfer control of your mouse from MouseWare to SetPoint.
MouseWare will no longer recognize your mouse. If you were only using one of these
mice with MouseWare, you can now uninstall MouseWare and use SetPoint.

3. Troubleshooting - Mouse Topics

My G5 mouse shows up as a grey generic mouse in the Setpoint now and since the last update! Great stuff! WTF though really?

I'm in XP too btw.

I hope this update fixes the retarded problem of the mouse not coming online when I boot my pc sometimes, Logitech says its because I've got intellitype installed for my ergo ms keyboard. WTF also they can't simply make it so you ONLY install MOUSE drivers and NOT both with their(Logitech) drivers.

I'll have to wait for uberOptions to be updated to support this. I rely on that plugin to help make my s510 keyboard work with foobar.

+1, although I installed these over my previous drivers and uberOptions seem to work fine without having to update.

    • I'm no Apple fan, and have never bought an Apple product for myself. But I'd argue that where you think Apple is behind regarding an OLED display, that the vast majority of people out there wouldn't even know or care for an OLED. Apple have struck the balance well to create a price point that works, and I hope that PC manufactures, and Microsoft take notice. I'd argue that Asus will struggle to compete with the Neo BECAUSE they put in a more expensive OLED that many people won't actually notice with its deeper blacks. Most people wouldn't care either that their screen is stuck at 60Hz! When I bought a 4k monitor (future proof and for the space), my laptop could only push that out at 30Hz, and it worked fine for my needs for 1.5 years! Heck, the average human eye can't see more than 90Hz in many situations!! So while they are trying to differentiate themselves, and it may well gain them a few customers, for the most part, I think they're missing the point of what the Neo is for.
    • I disagree. Boomer execs only want one thing; money money money. The original fans of the series want a specific reboot that focuses on the vibe and feel of the original series. Boomers don't want that because then they can't have a 8 to 9 figure return. This was canceled because of greed.
    • Meta rolls out Meta Business Agent globally on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger by David Uzondu Image via Meta Meta is expanding Meta Business Agent, a feature that the social media giant promises will help businesses deliver "personalized experiences for customers using AI," launching the tech globally. Before this global release, Meta Business Agent used to be a free test called "Business AI" during a testing phase that started in October 2024. Meta picked India, Mexico, and Brazil to test the software, gathering data from over one million active shops that used the chat tools. The agent works on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger, helping shops answer customer questions, check incoming leads, book appointments, and recommend products from a catalog. Meta said that the business agent can match your brand's unique tone when speaking to customers, and that it plans to improve the feature to handle "daily operations" like market research, product insights, calendars, and rival research. Soon, users will find these AI-supported shops easily by typing names in the WhatsApp search bar. Image via Meta Apart from the Business Agent, Meta is also introducing the Meta Business Agent Platform, a new agentic platform that provides the infrastructure needed to build, customize, and run virtual helpers at scale. With the Platform, companies link their bots to services like Shopify, Zendesk, and Shopee using firm-level controls, guardrails, and metrics to define strict rules. This setup lets coders build custom behaviors, keeping customers happy with direct answers. Speaking of agents, you might have heard that hackers recently broke into Instagram accounts by simply asking the Meta AI support assistant on the mobile app to hand over control. You can check out our coverage on that here.
    • Transmission 4.1.2 by Razvan Serea Transmission is a fast, easy-to-use bittorrent client with support for encryption, a web interface, peer exchange, magnet links, DHT, µTP, UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding, webseed support, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more. Transmission has one of the lowest memory & resource footprints of any major BitTorrent client. Transmission's light overhead is one reason why it is so well suited for home NAS and media servers. Having been used by Western Digital, Zyxel and Belkin, Transmission gives truly impressive performance on almost any compatible hardware. Transmission is an open source, volunteer-based project. Unlike some BitTorrent clients, Transmission doesn't play games with its users to make money. Transmission doesn't bundle toolbars, pop-up ads, flash ads, twitter tools, or anything else. It doesn't hold some features back for a payware version. Its source code is available for anyone to review. Transmission doesn't track users, the website and forums have no third-party ads or analytics. Transmission 4.1.2 changelog: This is Transmission 4.1.2, a bugfix release.
