Nashy
I can't believe you people are getting ****y over someone trying to stop piracy. Who the hell cares what the MPAA does? It's still their products and people are still breaking the law by downloading instead of properly purchasing them. Model Citizen? People will continue to download, but if anyone agree's with the tactics of the MPAA and RIAA then seriously.... Quillz
I haven't used TorrentSpy in months. I'll just have to stay away from them for good now. Although I'd imagine that if you used it for getting something legally distributed, like a Linux distro, you've got nothing to worry about. Justin-
Understandably, this is a worrying move by the court - even more so when one considers these logs must then be turned over to the MPAA. Haha, worrying, eh? I guess the only ones worrying are those doing the illegal activities they know they're not supposed to be doing anyway. bonzibuddy
Why should I even care about the MPAA if I don't live in America? NEVER85
I still fail to see the problem. The MPAA only cares about their movies. Torrentspy still has a plethora of warez, games, music, tv shows, etc. I'm not saying "HEY GO DL THOSE FILES INSTEAD", but I still think people are making a mountain out of a molehill over this. Xtreme2damax
Haha, worrying, eh? I guess the only ones worrying are those doing the illegal activities they know they're not supposed to be doing anyway. I'll quote something I said from the last page: Seriously the MPAA, RIAA can go to hell. Anyone of you who think otherwise can fizzle out with the MPAA and RIAA and meet your doom. Theres nothing I hate more than a bunch of hypocrites who act as if they've never pirated anything in their entire lives or never will just to cover their asses satisfying their e-penis and ego. Everyone that uses a Computer has at least downloaded something that is copyrighted at least once in their lives even if on purpose or unknowingly, unless your an old fart who doesn't care about this and only is interested in seeing the latest newscast, and even then I seriously have my doubts. Don't some of you just hate hypocrisy, the ability to speak against someone or something although you are guilty of the same thing or could be  Seriously like I said, everyone that has used a computer has at least pirated something once in their lives or will at one point. Stop pretending to be Mr/Ms innocent, to play on this and belittle everyone, in order satisfy your e-pen0r, ego and clear your conscience. As long as no actual data and just torrents are stored on the servers I see no validity in this ruling. A torrent once downloaded can contain any data, even data was not described in the torrent name/description. You could think you're downloading hollywoods latest release or a hit song, when in actuality you could be downloading malware or something completely different. There is no way of actually knowing until downloading the file and uncompressing (If Compressed) and actually playing it to find out. I doubt that they are working 24 hour shifts to download every single file that references a hollywood movie or song, via torrent or other method, uncompressing it to see if it actually contains anything illegal. If all they have to go on is torrents and the names of the torrents and not actual data itself, this should of been thrown right out. But unfortunately our country and judicial system is run by a bunch of old farts and idiots who don't know first hand about technology, P2P, and these things. Which is also why people are able to file bogus patents, and file frivolous lawsuits and actually win them even if they are at fault  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/566138-torrentspy-ordered-by-judge-to-become-mpaa-spy/page/2/#findComment-588614073 Share on other sites

jetblack
what i despise more is people that try to justify themselves and refuse to admit that what they are doing is wrong. It doesnt make a bit of difference if YOU think its ok to share copyrighted material, it still is a crime as defined by current law. i do my own share of downloading, but that doenst mean i think its my right, even if its by bt or p2p or whatever. i think the mpaa and all entities like it has every right to try and protect their property, even though i dont condone its tactics or the judges that allow it to procede w/o due justice. if you made a living off of your creative works and they were stolen/distributed w/o your consent or w/o compensation, you'd be ****ed and would do whatever you could to stop it. Miuku.
if you made a living off of your creative works and they were stolen/distributed w/o your consent or w/o compensation, you'd be ****ed and would do whatever you could to stop it. Although I switched jobs many years ago but the software and products that I worked on previous were pirated and copied. Yes, I found it a little unsettling but we had a very high profit rate and it didn't bother that much. Heck, we could've had 50% of our "installations" pirated and we still would've made a handsome profit. The problem?here is greed - these companies aren't satisfied with?the massive profits they are currently raking in - they're only interested in more, more and more money. There is no end to how much money they want?-?corporate?capitalism?with no social responsibility is?a?dead?end.? This is just the beginning, there are lots more. By the sides, everything should be free, everyone should help each other. Money is dumb.
