[NHL] Free agent season begins July 1st

I thought about cutting and pasting it but the list is too long and improperly formatted.

As far as the Leafs' unrestricted free agents... you can have them. For that matter, as far as their restricted free agents go, you can have them too. Carlo would be the most interesting and he is only one more concussion away from being done.

Window Title "Potentla NHL Fr..." don't they spell check these things :p

The leafs need someone really bad but I don't think MLSE will spring the extra cash for brand name hockey player, theres prob. not enough room in the cap especially since we're stuck with the likes of Bryan McCabe and Co. for the next 5 years

Im guessing this is the best place to put trade news.

Samsonov traded to Hawks

Wasn't Samsonov meant to be a good player? He was drafted 8th in the 97 draft pick.

On another note, perhaps this thread would be the best place to discuss draft day news like last minute trades and the draft itself?

Toskala traded to toronto

I bet Fred's happy, they finally have a decent goalie. Vokoun was traded to florida as well.

He's only slated to backup Raycroft. Perhaps he'll put some serious pressure on Raycroft though. J.S. Aubin was never going to be made the #1 goalie in Toronto.

Apparently the real clincher was Mark Bell. I personally thought we had enough mediocre wingers but at least here he has a chance of being a top line winger (just because we don't have anyone else to push him further down the roster).

Toronto also re-signed Carlo Colaiacovo to an insane amount on money. To me he seems like someone who is only one more concussion away from being a Brett Lindros. I don't think they made it an incentive laden contract either. Perhaps you can't even do that with restricted players.

Fred, I think Philly is spending is attempting to buy themselves back to the top. Which will not happen.

I'm interested to see what the Vancouver Canucks will do, Nonis needs to make some changes upfront if he wants us to contend for the cup next year. I think the best way will be to remove Naslund, if that's possible... :/

Joe Thornton signed with Sharks for 3 year $21.6 million extension this morning.

I haven't heard of any actual free agent signings yet. Keith Tkachuk was traded to (and then "re-"signed with) St. Louis. There was another trade today too:The Boston Bruins acquired goaltender Manny Fernandez from the Minnesota Wild for right winger Petr Kalus and a fourth-round draft pick in 2009

In the salary cap era you cannot buy your way to the top. You need to make smart decisions with your cap space. Signing good but not great players to top-tier money doesn't seem that smart to me.

Yes, this seems to be a good source (you can vote if you like or hate the deal too):http://www4.sportsnet.ca/nhl_signings_2007/
Daniel Briere has rounded down his choices to 5 teams. It's believed Montreal, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia are among those 5.

He (Daniel Briere) has apparently signed with Philly.

Mathieu Schneider also signed with Anaheim (2 years@$5.625 million)

Scott Gomez has signed with the Rangers :D

Sportsnet.ca is saying that Drury has signed with the Rangers as well: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/article.jsp...701_162329_4180

The Rangers has issued a press release saying they have signed both Gomez and Drury :D

Gomez signing: http://www.newyorkrangers.com/pressbox/pre...ses.asp?id=2952

I hope they resign Shanny. It looks like Nylander is going some where else.

The Leafs signed Jason Blake from the NYI. 5 years @ $4 million dollars per

Is this guy going to be worth that kind of money when he is 38 (at the end of the contract)?

why did the leafs sign this guy?

i rather see Kariya sign with the leafs than blake...

    • Thanks for liking it! 😊 That's Arch Linux with Gnome.
    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
