Island Roots
I thought Finder supports FTP? I tried Go > Connect to Server... but from what I can see, it only looks for servers on your network.
Steve
rather than SMB use "FTP://" And enter an Address! As far as i am aware, you only gain READ (Not Write :() access by Mounting an FTP Volume in the Finder! :( NeYo
Gator
Have you tried ftp via the Terminal? Thats a funalternative to third paryt apps. The terminal command is just "ftp" then the adress....

Gator
Sorry, I meant type "ftp" and the adress on the same line. Like: "ftp plaza.ufl.edu". If it is private it will ask you for you username and then your password.
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted December 28, 2002 Veteran Share Posted December 28, 2002 I could have sworn ftp did uploads as well as downloads... I mean geez, it's not that hard even! Come on, that's like building a 747 from scratch and then not flying it! (well, maybe not THAT extreme...)

If it is private it will ask you for you username and then your password. Alright, I did that; now how do I upload files? Is it something like this: /Users/justinhancock (That's what I get when I do pwd) Also, how do I designate where I want it to be uploaded to? This seems too complicated...what's a good free FTP client out there? I sure wish they'd make a Mac port of Smart FTP. :(
