Got a new update for Windows live messenger 8.5 beta

Recommended Posts

Apparently there are no actual differences between this and the older build. When you look at the details for the update, it says:

Windows Live Messenger 8.5 Beta 1 Update 1

Installation date: ‎6/‎21/‎2007 8:09 PM

Installation status: Successful

Update type: Important

This update is being used to test how Microsoft Updates are distributed for Windows Live Messenger. While there are no actual changes to Messenger atit?s important for Messenger Beta testers to receive this updatehis update. Thanks for helping test Messenger!enger!

Also today I got an update for the Windows Update software. Which could be related to the Windows Live OneCare perpetual beta though.

Then why did they not put it on Connect and email beta testers becasue so far we haven't had a beta only build to properly test. I must say I am very impressed with the stability of the builds so far anyway just a let down they contradict themselves.

bah..who needs wlm betas anyway??......i uninstalled mine a while ago and switched to pidgin.....when the final release comes out....i may be reluctant to waste bandwidth for it..*sigh*......anyways can u mention any major ''improvements'''...the answer no!

wlm is plain crapware with a bloated interface and resource hungry trends...sorry...but if u defend wlm then u gonna have to shoot u

typo ''im gonna have to shoot u'' ....see wot wlm made me do.....i mean come on....how can a bad thing be good?

...What?

Want to try that again in literate English? As I see what your lack of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation have done to you.

WLM may have some features that are not to your liking. Well, urm patch them out?

Stop being so pendantic and close minded. WLM looks prettier than your illiterate post does as well.

I wasnt saying that Microsoft/Windows Update puts out a fake but a couple of members could fake it.

we dont get emotional. its just when things are said a number of times, clearly and someone comes in and asks the question its like WTF? its al ready been said

though i do agree that some get crazy in here (like one time some one wanted everyone to sign a pention that will have neowin only open to 21 years and older)

WLM has got to be the only im client out there with a professtional looking UI. Also the look can apply to everyone: Tweens, Teens, adluts, old people, office workers. Everyone is happy.

i got the update too, and for proof i got a screen shot. I won't install it until a-patch has been updated.

I'm waiting for Mr. A-Patch to come online to begin patching it. I'm not upgrading until he has patched it either :)

why?

guys its just a update so they can test the microsoft update service with WLM. So in the feature you can download it automatically.

AS SAID, THERE ARE NO MAJOR CHANGES, LET ALONE ANY MINOR

i doubt there will be a patch..

If there are no changes, it will be easier for him to patch then, won't it :)

Who's to say when Microsoft will release the next build, it could be weeks or months. I doubt Ahmad would wan't us all to be apatch-less for months.

Oh and as a newcomer to this thread, it seems that southside has a little too much time on his hands. Coming back time after time making childish posts and not letting the matter drop. Get a life man.

large conbtacts?

click the two up and down arrows next to the add contact button and chose show contact detels

Oh wow, thats neat. Thanks for the tip. I only have 6 or 7 MSN contacts so it works well with that amount.

Also, I love A-Patch, its damn stable, been using it for years with no errors.

a-patch is great, didn't install the new build until a-patch was done. i still don't see the point of this IMPORTANT update

It's more or less just to eff around with being able to produce on-the-fly updates to smaller Windows programs. Just a test.

    • I spent a good 15 min today trying to get new Outlook to use my default browser instead of forcing links into Edge. That kinda tactic is shady and it sucks.

    • Also try installing an alternative browser on ChromeOS. You have to enable dev mode and run it as a Linux app. Clunky.
    • sometimes in older bios' you had to set a password in order to change the csm settings
    • I've enjoyed Firefoxx64 DE for many years, and Edge doesn't tempt me, and I stopped using Chrome long ago--far too many bugs.
