Remote desktop only works if you do one of the following:

1. Port-forward the RDP port on your router

2. Setup VPN with, say, Hamachi

Personally, VPN is a better option as it works on any computer in the world at any location, without the need to fiddle with router settings.

if you have 10 computers you need to remember 10 ips, firewall can block you in\out , not every machine has RDP...

I use this logmein for 2 years and its super great free service.

one of the best softwares iv seen around, its very easy to setup and to use.

Everyone that uses VPN or remote desktop (big easy hoole ine windows btw) should try this LOGMEIN.

Dont even try to compare to other services or products, it has impecable support.

VPN also provides more security. Authentication, encryption, private IPs etc.
