J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield Questions

I actually walked out of the movie theater and got my money back after about ~15-20min into it. As they didnt tell us at the beginning that it could cause motion sickness, and was completely video taped handheld. This movie was terrible and I was sick to my stomache for hours afterwards leaving the movies.

I was wasn't suprised either, when about 10 others walked out as well and were asking for their money back.

You can't be serious.

How can you possibly judge an hour and a half movie after twenty minutes?

The answer, as shocking as it may be, is that you can't.

^^ There should be no closure whatsoever, but I did expect a better ending.

The ending was there to make you think, if the ending is clear then the film didn't leave its mysterious nature around.

The movie was good. It's more intense than any monster movie I have seen in a long time. I guess I'm the lucky one, as I did not feel sick or thought the camera work nauseating. The camera actually does shake most of the time..hah. The ending was definitely fit, but I was hoping that there would be some clear footage of the monster in its monstrous entirety by a news crew or something. I just feel that the audience deserved to see the monster clearly at least once or so.

To everyone complaining about the lack of an ending, the movie was meant to show what happened to the main characters. That's the whole point of a movie made in the first-person perspective. If you were expecting the movie to go on and show what happened to the monster and New York, then you could also make the argument that the movie lacks a beginning as well, since they don't really explain where the monster came from or show it going into the city.

the movie... well... A lot of camera moving. Even more than any previous movies that we have seen (blair, children of man, etc). Was really disgusting the first 20 minutes. Nothing really happend but trying to showup about the characters. The CGI was ok. Nothing expectacular nothing extraordinary. Just ok.

For a moment I thought that I was watching lost, with that thing screamming out there and nothing was showed.

And the end, like any other end of lost season.

I think thats his job, I mean the J.J. Abrams. Showing nothing but a lot of non sense question that in the end doesnt matters. You could live the rest of your life without knowing what next or why that happend. Just to let you wanting a sequel/new ep/ whatever.

And "whatever they are doing, they are winning", heh. Of course. A lot. Of money ;)

I went to watch this movie yesterday and let me tell you, its probably one of the best movies I've ever seen. It keeps you at the edge of your seat the whole time and the whole camera shaking and everything was actually the best part since it made the movie seem extremely real. JJ Abrams is a genius. No wonder Lost is the best series ever to be aired on national t.v.

Matt Reeves tells Den of Geek, "So the secret that we had was that the monster was a baby. Having just been born it was going through separation anxiety and had no idea where its mother was and was freaking out and was in a completely foreign place, didn?t understand a thing and that that would be sending it into a kind of infantile rage. Which was very frightening, but the thing that was also frightening to me was the idea that not only was it going through an infantile rage but, because it was suffering from this separation anxiety, it was spooked.

It was really afraid. And as the military started shooting at it, I started thinking, like if you were attacked by a swarm of bees for the first time, it wouldn?t necessarily kill you but you?d be terrified, you?d be like, "What are these things doing?!" And for me there?s nothing scarier than thinking of something that big that?s spooked. Like if you?re at the circus and suddenly the elephants are spooked, you don?t want to be anywhere near that, you?ll be crushed..."

I'm going to see this movie on Friday, but can anyone tell me if the shakin effect is all the way through?

Its not an effect. The movie is filmed with a handheld camera. So yes, it shakes. But its not as bad as some make it seem. If you can ride a roller coaster without a problem, you will be fine.

I suggest sitting further back in the theatre than you normally would. I sat in the back row (small theatre, though) and didn't have any motion sickness problems whatsoever.

i saw it last night and really enjoyed it. i do get travel sick quite easy and must admit after the camera had been "shaking" for about 15 mins i did feel a bit uneasy but it does settle down more in the 2nd half of the film. I didn't get the same kind of issue with the Blair Witch project but i think that things like street lights and multiple things moving on the screen while it's shaking made it more of an issue in Clover field where as blair witch was mostly at night, mostly :D

At the end of the day look to the side of the screen if you feel a bit off and i wouldn't think you'd specifically miss anything as it's all kinda blurry during those bits anyway and it's more of a sense of panic and confusion that is trying to be portrayed.

as for the monster, you get to see plenty of it imo, maybe even too much (for my liking) towards the end, for those who have seen it i'm sure they know where i mean.

the viral advertising, myspace sites and news reports on youtube that tie in with it are great too though, definately worth a look at all of that to get more of a back story from it. It was interesting to speak to people who hadn't seen any of that and get their opinions of where the monster came from and what was going on without the back plots.

and it's interesting to find that they logged on myspace 1/18/08, while we know that the footage itself is a date waay before that one.

    • The original word arts were far more awesome! With their own preconfigured fill patterns, 3D layout, etc, with options to fine-tune their size and colors as desired. I especially loved the ones circled below and still miss them from my primary school years: I frankly use them less these days 'cause the new one isn't as straightforward fine art as what we originally had, taking time and effort to get back to the same graphics quality as the original offered, which I simply don't have enough of for merely fine-tuning my presentation titles. Same with the built-in picarts selection. Bring back the original pre-configured options for word art then I'll be using them far more frequently in my presentations even today.
    • What didn't you understand about that was mainly referring to Google, Microsoft, etc. keeping your passwords. Password Management is a key service of Bitwarden and it's not going anywhere. In any case they do offer export to other Password management services, backup/download of passwords, and the already mentioned on-prem option. I don't agree with the OP to use the free option as it's better to be an actual customer IMO. They don't just don't delete accounts like the big tech companies with no recourse which was the main concern of this article. I was confused if the author was trying to sell this setup? It should be obvious to anyone reading this article this solution is overly complicated and overkill for most users.
    • I got this notification just now in Android: So I went in to disable the "Other" or "Marketing" notifications in Notifications management: But it came through the Now Playing? So if I disable that I no longer get what's Now Playing in Notifications? I'm a paying subscriber, not on the free plan... can they sink any lower?
