Sony screws up again with PS3 pricing

Recommended Posts

The Sony PSP is the last system I'm planning to buy from them. I'm going Wii and Xbox 360 in a year or so. Don't get me wrong, I love the PSP, it's an awesome system, and I love the PS2, but the PS3 is over-priced, and the lack of decent games for the system makes me think twice about buying it.

Cant you insert your own hard drive in there anyway? Making this pointless?

Is there any reason why someone cant buy the 60GB version and chuck a 120GB hard drive in there?

Since the difference in wholesale price of a 60GB HDD and 80GB HDD is hardly anything, Sony is using this 'new' SKU to soften the blow from reducing the 60GB price, and to eventually break even on the 80GB.

There's no reason why you can't just buy the $499 60GB model and add your own 120GB or 160GB 2.5" HDD though.

Sony is technically adding 20gb + a game and selling it for the same price. I don't see anything wrong with that.

I don't see Sony getting rid of the 60gb, selling it at $499 will attract a certain crowd of buyers that aren't willing to shell out $599 for more space and a game. Like me! :D

Umm, reading the article, where does it say the 60gb is going? because I can't see it anywhere. :s

The 60GB is not going anywhere. The article doesn't say that. I don't know where the original poster read that info.

Source? The Elite will probably go down in price only with the new Xbox360 with the motherboard and 65n CPU.

So it's only going to happen in Q1 2008....

Well that says this week though obviously its nothing "official" per say. Guess we'll have to wait till tonight to see if it turns out to be true or if its going to happen in 08.
