Cannot Install KB935807

Recommended Posts

microsoft isn't always the brightest rocks in the bunch...'failed' also means that its not needed or you don't have the applications installed that its applied for....but they will keep showing you it...in hopes someday you might need it...lol

Update keeps showing me a HP driver that is older than the one I got..and keeps showing 'failed'..so you just have to hide it...but then the box of rocks 'reminds' you its hidden....DUH!!

looking forward to SP1?

me too, can't install....

@crucify: i've an intel cpu, but still not working....

@everybody: it seems to be a patch for vista firewall, so maybe it fails because we have a firewall software that replaces vista one.

for me i've norton 360... if who can't install can confirm using a 3rd party's firewall and the one who can are using vista firewall, then we know how to fix that..

I also have the same problems, I instlled every update there is and everything worked fine then I tried installing this update which failed. I also noticed that after installing the other updates Windows Security Alerts tells me my firewall is off even though my Kaspersky firewall is on.

I just dual booted to a 32bit Vista on the same hardware and the update installed with no issues. The software environment between the two Vistas is almost identical. Vista64 still fails on the package. I told Windows Update to hide the package. Eventually someone will find out whats going on.

According to the MS Security Bulletin, this update refers to the Vista Firewall. The issue is described as "Vulnerability in Windows Vista Firewall Could Allow Information Disclosure (935807)" and is a moderate threat.

Ok, then... I've disabled the Vista Firewall because I use the Kaspersky 6.0 suite, so maybe there's a hint. But this update tries to install itself, in fact, Vista rebooted itself yesterday evening because of that, and after some work another reboot, I finally was able to log in. Vista then informed me about the faulty install of KB935807.

I'll try to disable installing this update without turning off automatic update, because this one is really annoying.

Had the same problem as the rest of you guys, so I downloaded the update separately from MS and installed it without a problem (so far).

You can download the update here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en

Did the same for update KB936357

Hope this helps some of you.
