ahhell
Quick question: why would you be willing to spend 50 quid on a heat sink for a Pentium D? Wouldn't be smarter to use that money for a Core2 and run the stock fan? toadeater
Fixed! No point in confusing the kiddies. ;)Oh, and the stock coolers today are *much* improved and perform well at stock. Check anandtech for one of their reviews. They're ok for stock speeds and average overclocking, but they're too loud and the cheap fans Intel uses break down too quickly. They'll still work, but they sound like vacuum cleaners after a while. Wouldn't be smarter to use that money for a Core2 and run the stock fan? The problem with that idea is that he already has a chip. ;) They're ok for stock speeds and average overclocking, but they're too loud and the cheap fans Intel uses break down too quickly. ABzHQ2k
Well I was planning on getting a Core 2 Duo but as the Heatsink bought my temps down I figured that can wait for a couple of months now. I spent more on this upgrade than I planned to anyway so another ?150 on a cpu wasn't a good idea, when I could just spend ?50 on a heatsink for now and it will be useful when I do get a new C2D as I will be overclocking anyway. Well its been a week since I installed the heatsink and the temps haven't gone over 43C, idles between 34-36C Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/574936-whats-the-best-socket-775-hsf/page/2/#findComment-588754276 Share on other sites
