[Official] Doctor Who Thread

The Doctor has crossed over into The Sarah Jane Adventures twice now, but could he also appear in Torchwood in future?

Posed the question at the Torchwood: Miracle Day press launch, Russell T Davies said: ?No, the Doctor?s never gone into Torchwood. It?s always been the other way round, Torchwood?s gone into Doctor Who, which I think is correct because there?s a big child audience for Doctor Who and I think that would demand if we took the Doctor into Torchwood it would be a clash of styles.?

John Barrowman also added: ?I think it?s hard for Doctor Who to come into Torchwood because Doctor Who is a more family-oriented show. We?re an adult show. It?s easier for Jack to go into that show because he started there but not the other way because Jack is very different in Torchwood.?

However, in Doctor Who Magazine #435, Davies did say that there are references to Doctor Who in Miracle Day and the Doctor does actually get mentioned.

Yeah, I really don't think the Doctor fits very well into the Torchwood universe as a whole. That's not to say they couldn't do a crossover at all, it COULD work, but it would be harder than Jack visiting the Doctor obviously. They've done some sly same sex kissy huggy stuff in DW with Jack before (and recently with Matt Smith's Doctor), but nothing overt like in Torchwood.

Still, Jack SHOULD be on Doctor Who more often. If he is truly going to evolve into the Face of Boe, and is supposedly such a good friend of the Doctor's over the years, it would make sense for him to show up to help/whatever once in a blue moon. Torchwood/Jack hasn't even been mentioned on DW proper since Matt Smith right?

Technically there is no Torchwood Universe, it along with Sarah Jane takes place in the Doctor Who Universe. /overly picky :p

But seriously, I know what you mean, and I agree that Jack should be on Doctor Who, he at least needs to meet the current Doctor once before Matt Smith moves on, whenever that is going to be.

Didn't Moffat create Jack in the first place from when he wrote the episode with the kid and the gas mask? lol.

And as far as I know, Torchwood or any of the characters have yet to be mentioned in Series 5/6 so far, I was wondering if the whole Universe "rebooting" and anything from the end of Series 5 was going to be mentioned in Torchwood, then remembered that no one but the main 4 seemingly remembered anything, lol.

I'd LOVE for the Doctor to show up in Torchwood, but yeah... the whole adult thing. I'm really hoping Jack comes back to DW though--I'd love to see his first meeting with the Eleventh Doctor.

That said...

MOISTURIZE ME, MOISTURIZE ME!

If Jack showed up in DW then Amy AND Rory would have to look out, he's too much sex drive for those two to handle.

Honestly though, with Tourchwood being the more dark/adult version or w/e you can see how, maybe, it wouldn't work if the doctor showed up BUT this new season of DW is already more "adult" and darker anyways. It's closer to tourchwood then in the past I'd say, so I think at this point it could work out just fine really.

This may amuse people of here...

Naked Doctor Who star Karen Gillan and a riotous New York party

It's the kind of awkward situation where she could have done with a Tardis to take her away. Doctor Who star Karen Gillan was found naked in a New York hotel corridor after a night of riotous partying. Miss Gillan, 23, who plays the Time Lord?s assistant Amy Pond, was seen ?whimpering? in the nude by guests at 7am before security arrived, wrapped her in a sheet and escorted her to her room.

Her appearance prompted guests to nickname her ?Lady Godiva?. She and co-stars including Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, had been put up at The Ace, one of Manhattan?s trendiest hotels, during a promotional trip.

After fulfilling their duties, the cast and crew enjoyed ?one long party?, according to fellow guests. One permanent male guest told the Daily Mail he heard someone trying to open his door at 7am. The resident, who later identified the stranger as Miss Gillan, said: ?I went to the peephole and looked out. I saw a man at the lift who was looking back at someone who was attempting to open my door? the next thing I saw was a woman giving this person at my door two towels before getting into the lift and leaving. ?Then I saw this young woman, completely naked, trying to wrap two towels around her and not having much luck. ?She then started to whimper and knock on my door. Seeing that she wasn?t getting anywhere, she lay down with the towels covering her.

    • A difficult position to be in. Either they cater to us users or they cater to news curators to potentially increase traffic. Personally, I wasn't being sarcastic. Hosting a website isn't free, so without traffic this site stops existing, and if you want traffic you have to play the game. I legitimately thought the title was good. Not because I like it, but because it's the kind of title people will click on. This site needs that.
