Size limit for Wordpad .txt files?

Size limit for Wordpad .txt files?

Windows XP

I personally have 150kb files without problems. Will the data be at risk if a file gets too big? (I know there's always a risk, especially when you press the save button?)

By the way WordPad OWNS. No other text editor I know handles unicode/foreign language characters and/or word wrapping that well. I use the Chinese version of the operating system.

I know that when it is opening large files it lags quite a bit and has actually caused a few lockups for me.. but other than that I don't see much of a problem. They usually have to be very large for that (over 150kb). What are you doing with these?

I'm not bumping my own thread(it's been a few days old). I'm just answering myrhymeandreason: I store everything in single txt files unless I have to apply formats, in which case I use OOo 2.2

Wordpad should handle files up to around 2GB if you have enough memory.

You should try EmEditor if you want to view chinese files. Its the only text/source editor which handles unicode filenames on Wndows and the unicode support is quite decent.

I used to deal with system generated reports which were txt docs at about 12MB each.

You either have no good RAM memory or your wordpad is bugged....

I've never seen a WordPad bugged, but try replacing it with the one in your Windows XP CD using the "expand" command at CMD...
