Materazzi reveals exact words of insult to Zindane

Recommended Posts

Italy defender Marco Materazzi has finally revealed the exact words he used to provoke Zinedine Zidane into headbutting him in last year's World Cup final.

"I prefer the ###### that is your sister," he said in a interview with the TV Sorrisi e Canzoni magazine which comes out on Monday, Italian media reported on Saturday.

Materazzi had previously said that he had mentioned the France midfielder's sister in the verbal jousting between the two in the Berlin final, but had never given the exact words.

Zidane, who retired after the final, was sent off for the headbutt and Italy subsequently won on penalties.

I couldn't stop laughing at all those headbutt .gif files.

anyway totally wrong forum.

And I suppose the Chris Benoit thread is in the right board, having been moved here from the Sports Arena?

This is a matter regarding the media, not sports. So spare me, I've been here long enough to know where to post my threads...don't pay attention to the 167 posts...

Thread moved, since soccer is a real sport (pro wrestling is entertainment).

it was out of the game, i think the refree made the wrong decision, so did zidane, but any how, i think italy didnt deserve the cup, and that this topic is in the wrong forum

last time i checked, head butts arent part of football, just because the ball wasn't near them doesn't mean its not a foul / whatever

I'm amazed at how easily goated most of you seem to be. A verbal insult like that would never set me off in a million years. Zidane, and France, deserved to lose solely based on that. Trash talking is part of every sport, deal with it, or quit... like Zidane.

Matrix is a dirty piece of scum and a strong reason as to why I stopped following Inter a few seasons ago. It didn't surprise me that he was invovled in the biggest controversy of the WC. He's probably lying about what he said and even if he isn't it seems a bit pointless to come out with it now. Zidance was justifiably tossed. Regardless of where it happened on the pitch, any intent of that nature is unacceptable and it was the right call. Anyone who lost respect for him because of that probably wasn't a big fan of his in the first place (which is madness). Despite what everyone says, France didn't lose the WC because of that. They lost because of Trez's failure to hit a penalty.

Matrix won the medal, got handed a SerieA title, and casually strolled into another. Time for him (and the critics) to move on.

Zidane should have kept calm, this type of words are normal in every sport...

He should go all crazy and headbutt a guy just because of words in a football (soccer) field... and with all the years he got playing football (soccer) he should know better and be "expecting" things like what Materazzi said to him

    • It is, but it also has a bad performance reputation even on high-end gaming PCs. Some people say it's the engine's fault, others say it's the games developers' fault, who knows... At the end of the day, for the average gamer, the take is this: PC game with Unreal Engine 5? Be affraid and cross your fingers, it's a 50/50 chance.
    • 25th anniversary Xbox Series X unveiled with classic translucent green design by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The Xbox Games Showcase had a new Xbox console reveal from Microsoft celebrating the gaming brand turning 25 years old. This is to be a new limited edition Xbox Series X and controller collection that draws on the design of the rare green version of the original Xbox console. The "XBOX Series X25 Limited Edition" is coming out later this year with its matching controller. "Inspired by the look and feel of the original XBOX console, both the console and controller feature a translucent OG Green design, with subtle tributes to the journey we’ve been on together," said Microsoft in the announcement. The Xbox Series X|S line has received several new variants over the years, but this will be the first edition with a translucent design. The Xbox Series X25 will have one terabyte of internal storage and a green light on the X to signify the console lines' history. There is a 25th anniversary logo printed on the front plate. Microsoft is also teasing that the community will be able to find "a few hidden surprises throughout" the machine as well. As for the new X25 Special Edition Xbox controller, this is also coming with the classic translucent green design for its front and back plates. "From the original ABXY colors, to the timeless green, every detail calls back to the beginning, including the bumpers honoring the original black and white buttons on the original “Duke” controller," says the company about this release. "The back case and battery door are fully transparent, revealing the classic XBOX logo." The XBOX 25th anniversary collection, containing both the translucent console and controller, will be available for purchase in November 2026 as a limited-edition release. Microsoft will be offering the new XBOX Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition separately as well. Pricing details and pre-order information will be coming later.
