no the recap isn't worth watching.... and neither was this episode. If the next one is this bad I'm going to get in my car and drive all the way to J.J's house and beat the crap out of him!

Reply of the thread so far!

Good job I read the episode spoilers before then :shifty:

Awesome episode.

Hasn't lost its touch. 7 to go.

Need more damn it.

Not a whole lot happened in this episode.

Well, it was a season premiere. You can't expect big revelations.

But we did get

Hurley is one of the Oceanic Six

'They' are making them lie about the fate of the rest of the people on the plane

The survivors split

'Rescue' is here

A glimpse of something in Jacob's cabin

Hurley at Jacob's cabin

Thats a lot for a season premiere.

The recap isn't for fans. Its for casual TV viewers and those wanting to start watching.

The episode was worth watching if you like the show. It is setting up the rest of the series. Note the title 'The Beginning of the End'.

What did everyone expect to happen???

They couldn't have all been rescued in the first episode of the season, we couldn't know who/what the "rescuers" were, and they couldn't kill off a lot of people so early (considering we now know at least 6 people will survive and return to the real world).

I thought the episode was great. Mind you, only a few hours transpired - not nearly as much time as some episodes - but I was kept on the edge of my seat.

I can see it now... people with throw a hissy fit because they aren't being blown away every single episode, that all the questions aren't going to be answered right now, that mysteries are still left hanging, which has always been the very fabric of what Lost is. This will be one of many posts, just like with Heroes, mark my words.

This episode had a lot to offer, and was a great lead up to what is the beginning of the end. I can't wait to see what else is up their sleeves. And no, Michael was not in this episode. We now know that only six were rescued, and that somehow, he or it (sounded like Hurley used both) wants them to go back. Did the rest of the stay? Did most die? Good golly this is going to be sweet!

The only thing I don't like about the rest of Lost is going to be that everyone they show escaping the island ... their fate can't ever be in doubt, because we know that they live.

Unless we are going to get to a point where they can change the future.

Are you guys serious!?! What was good about it... Maybe I missed something. I thought it was awful.

Just Jack pulling the trigger that would have killed Locke made this episode worth watching. Period.

Honestly, this was pretty much what a Lost episode should be. Some answers, some more questions. Stuff happening in between.

That is what Lost is.

I think that's what it's leading to, that we know what can happen, and will ultimately see how things transpire... or maybe they're showing us that this is their fate afterall, but I don't think they would've treated us to that this early, with 47 episodes to go.

I think the direction the show is headed, is going to get more people confused and mad at the show than they already are

I for one and going to hang around even if it get really off the whole point of LOST. I dont like the flash forwards because theres no time period to it and it bring sooo much more questions than the present.

There IS a time period to the flash forwards. We have a date from Jack's flashes in 'Through the Looking Glass' from the newspaper. These flash forwards were clearly before that.

And really, there isn't much of a time period to the flashbacks either, at least not right away until you have more to base them off of.

Unless I misunderstood you, there is a time period to the flash forwards.. we just don't have enough info about them to know it yet. What we do know is that Hurley's flash happened before Jack's flash from the last ep. As we start seeing more of them, it will start to fill in the gaps up until the ultimate conclusion.

edit: looks like episode beat me to it

all i am saying is answer a couple of questions before they go on the the next questions like who is in the casket what are the rescue people's real mission

i know this will all transpire in future episodes but most people stop watching because they can't handle questions without answers

While I agree with what you said in your spoiler, that was pretty cool! But overall I really wasn't impressed. Maybe it will be one of those episodes that will be good after watching the rest of the season. That being said though, with this shortened season, they better start squeezing a whole crap load more in the episodes otherwise they are going to run out of them before we get our answers.

I don't think the shortened season will really change anything. What we might see is that we get this half season because of the strike and then a half season this winter (when we would have gone without Lost). Then they could resume in Feb 2009 without having lost any time.

The answers will come in the logical order as the story unfolds. There's no time for everyone to just sit around and chit chat, 'What about this? And that?' In the midst of being held captive, I'm sure Sayid isn't going to start asking about the four toed statue, or for Bernard to ask how his wife was healed from cancer, or Jin on how his impregnated his wife... come season six, we'll be flooded with answers, such as smokey.

Well the next seven episodes are done, and they're not reshooting, so....

Was that Locke in the cabin?

I think one was Jacob (the brief glimpse of his eye looked similar to the one we saw in the finale of season three) and the other Christian (because of the contour of his hair). How I wish Hurley went inside!

    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
