OK, I've just watched the island disappear (that was way cool btw :woot:) - 2 things I noticed:

A) Pretty sure I heard smokey sounds as Ben turned the wheel, but that could just be coincidence that the noise is similar

B) The effect of the bright light completely covered the guys on the island (Locke & others, Juliet & Sawyer, and those in Daniel's boat), however it was not shown to completely cover those in the helicopter. So, I would imagine this means the guys in the boat went with the island.

I finally saw it!

Why didn't Jin and the other crew members putting on their life jackets jump?

And I was kind of disappointed with moving the island. Such a big build-up, and an interesting concept, was reduced to "turn this wheel".

But overall, great as always. A couple of goosebumps moments!

The problem with this show itself is that the time spread for each season is so long, The casual viewers tend to forget many Lost facts. Thus, lose interest pretty fast. I know my aunt & 8 yr old cousin is. It's hard for them to keep up with each episode, let alone each season. So unless you're a hardcore lost fan keeping up with all the buzz around the net, you'll be even more confuse with each episode.

With that being said, I still love this f'n show. Nothing quite like it ever. But please, start answering some questions next season.

You don't need spoiler tags now. The episode has aired.

I agree the island moving was a bit duff by moving a wheel. The questions it opened made it interesting though.

One things for sure. Season 5 is going to be very interesting.

September!

Lost actor Harold Perrineau has been cast in a comedic police drama in development in the US.

Perrineau will play paranoid detective Leo Banks in The Unusuals, set in a New York police department. A pilot presentation of the show is being made for ABC.

Perrineau left Lost after the second season then made a return in the recent run.

Elsewhere, Rick Gomez (What About Brian) has joined Cupid, another ABC comedic drama. Gomez's character Felix runs a bar and is landlord to Trevor, who thinks he is the god of love.

Gail O'Grady (Boston Legan) has signed up to play a tough-talking lawyer in an untitled ABC drama pilot from Dave Hemingson.

Finally, Sarah Lafleur has joined an untitled comedy pilot, again for ABC, in development from David Kohan and Max Mutchnick. Her character Audrey is girlfriend to Derek, who runs a business with his best friend Drew.

I'm really disappointed in Michael's character this season. I was expecting more from his character, but he really didn't do ****. The only thing Michael did to advance the storyline was get Ben information. I cannot think of anything else he did to move the story forward, so I'm not really sad to see his character finally go.

I need to start watching this show, but I doubt I'll ever catch it on where I can watch it in order. :\

You can either rent the DVDs or watch full episodes on ABC.com. All four seasons are available.

Any votes for the show has jumped the shark with that finale? The whole "move the island" thing was to much.

How's that?

The show has always had weird things going on, so this isn't jumping the shark, it is the norm. Or are you saying that a smoke monster is normal, but moving the island isn't? Or the fact that no one can find the island is normal, but moving the island isn't. Or a polar bear living in a South Pacific Island is norm, but moving the island isn't.

I think in a way alot of people will lost interest because of the moving island thing but then again if you have got this far from the very start then you are a die hard fan and your thoughts won't change on what you saw.

I find it very hard to believe that anyone who started watching this show from the very beginning and have stuck with it will lose interest just because they moved the island. The party I went to for the finale, all of them were MORE intrigued by the island being moved.

Yeah I meant the die hard fans i.e the very start, I mean if you came into the show Season 2 or Season 3 maybe then they will be the ones that will chuck it in or even some from Season 1 like some people in this thread have said that the finale was "poor" in their opinion they maybe the ones that stop watching.

No more than the smoke monster is in it, its tolerable. They have not explained either one of those occurances yet so you cant really say either way on those. Moving the Island is a huge stretch. I have watched it from the beginning and the first season was the best I think, and I am loosing interested cause they don't really explain anything and things just keep getting more supernatural as it goes. The items you mentioned I would wait for an explanation first. Moving the island there is no good explanation of how that happened unless this whole time they are all dead or they have found Fantasy Island and Tattoo is some where near by.

Time travel? How's exactly is that explainable? Time travel has clearly been part of the show for a long time. Go back to Desmond's second flashback (Flashes Before Your Eyes; Season Three, Episode Eight). The smoke monster isn't even explainable really. Not without pure science fiction. Polar bears cannot live in the south pacific.

What about Kate's horse? Or Jack seeing his dead father on the island. The show has always been pure science fiction. Moving the island may have stepped that up a little, but it isn't "jumping the shark".

The show has not always been pure science fiction. We [casual viewers] can accept some weird things here and there. Smoke monster? Sure, it's a crazy island! Plane lands and everyone who survives gets healed of their ailments? Sure, its what makes the place special! Polar Bears? Well they were brought there by the Others (we found out when Sawyer and Kate were trying to get the food biscuits). Seeing dead people? Sure, why not, it was a traumatic experience, a plane crash, why wouldn't they see people that had a big impact on their life?

The first season was fine. It was far enough out there to make fantastic television, but still grounded enough in reality to draw us in and believe it.

Not to mention the fact that, as mentioned, it is nearly impossible to follow the time line now. It's bad enough that some 3 months on the island have taken us a few years to get through, but the constant changing of time in the show, past, present, future, has become too much.

Moving a freaking island? Time travel? And both without any explanation of questions raised in the first 2 seasons? Now they went to far, and have indeed, jumped the shark.

So hooray for Heroes! September, here I come!

 Seriously? Heroes? You're a fan of Heroes which is clearly out there, even from the very first episode, yet you're willing to give up on Lost because they moved the island?

Exactly what questions from the first two seasons would you like answered, out of curiosity?

I agree it has not been pure science fiction. The polar bear will probably never be explained nor the horse however with the end of this one were he went in to a ICE CAVE area leads to the idea that apparently there is polar bears on the island in some kinda of ice region. Seeing the dead people are by the fact of stress fatigue etc. Just because they see them doesn't mean they are actually there but most likely a hallucinations. The island is out of time a little bit I am still waiting on the explanation of this as well. The island moving is way more fantastic than anything they have done before and when it gets that fantastic it has jumped the shark. As true to the show as i have been since the beginning even I was disappointed in that.

With Heroes you expect it to be pure supernatural.

People seeing dead people isn't stress fatigue. That's the island, clearly, causing them to see these things. How else do you explain Christian Shepard being the messenger for Jacob?

Not sure how anyone would have gone into Lost expecting something firmly grounded in reality when a "monster" was in the very first episode, I guess that's why I'm not disappointed by Lost. I went into the show expecting "supernatural" things to happen.

The monster was in the fist episode but you didn't even know what that was in the first episode it could have been a dinosaur as far as you could tell from the first episode. There was nothing supernatural in the first episode to even suggest that it was. I don't believe that they are actually seeing those people anyway unless they are all dead then that would explain everything but otherwise its stress fatigue and group psychosis, its what they want to see and believe. I am sure this will be one of those shows that the finale ending will be disappointing.

Woooo, Go Hurmoth :p

But you are speaking sense. How can people just give it up from that episode?

Quite easy really I mean I gave up on Greys Anatomy because it was getting stupid so in the same theory people could feel the same about Lost.

    • Who is paying for this 30x scale-up? Its sounds expensive.
    • Millions of users to benefit from Windows 11's new performance boost on Adobe Photoshop by Sayan Sen Despite the advent of AI-generated imagery, Adobe's Photoshop remains one of the most popular tools on this planet. Adobe does not have a publicly reported total user count but it's probably not wrong to assume there are millions. As of 2025, Adobe Creative Cloud has had approximately 41 million paid subscribers, many of whom likely use Photoshop. In addition, more than 166,000 companies worldwide are apparently also using the app. These figures are according to a very recent report by SQ Magazine. Out of them, it is fair to assume that many are probably running Windows. As such, there is good news for these users as Microsoft has announced Photoshop is getting a big 20% performance boost on x86-64 (AMD64) systems and a 13% bump-up on Arm devices. This is definitely great news for them as many have complained about the slow performance and general sluggishness of Photoshop on Windows 11 ever since the advent of the latter back in 2021. If you are wondering how Microsoft managed to do this, the answer lies in a combination of compiler-level optimizations and a technology called Sample Profile Guided Optimization (SPGO). According to Microsoft, Adobe worked closely with the company’s Visual C++ team and adopted the latest MSVC toolchain enhancements together with SPGO to squeeze more performance out of Photoshop’s CPU-bound workloads. Unlike traditional Profile Guided Optimization (PGO), which requires developers to create special instrumented builds and run lengthy training workloads, SPGO gathers performance data directly from optimized release binaries. This means Adobe could collect real-world usage information which gives a major advantage to this technique, as companies could leverage data collected from actual customer workloads rather than only relying on synthetic benchmark runs. In theory, this should allow optimizations to better reflect how users interact with software in the real world. Thanks to this, there are improvements to code layout, function inlining, hot-and-cold code separation, and other low-level tweaks that help processors execute instructions more efficiently. Essentially the compiler is better able to identify “hot” code paths, those which are most frequently executed, and optimize them accordingly.
    • "The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months¨ I'd prefer to see the lowest price in over a year
    • Glad these prices are starting to come down, but that is still crazy. I bought the 2TB 9100 Pro (slightly more expensive version with PCIe 5.0) last year for $240.
    • The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months by Sayan Sen Yesterday, we covered a really good deal wherein you can get a 4TB TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD for a low price of just $400 with a special discount coupon. That's just $100 per TB, making it a very good offer during these hard times. The deal is still live, so you can check it out in its dedicated article here if you do not want to miss out. Meanwhile, if you don't have that kind of budget but still wish to buy an SSD for a good price, the 2TB variant of the TeamGroup SSD at $280 its lowest price in over three months. Meanwhile, those seeking 2TB but faster performance can check out Samsung's 990 PRO, which has hit the lowest price also in the last quarter or so, as it's on sale for $370 (purchase links under the specs table down below). Thus, you want a faster drive, get the 990 Pro, or you want more capacity, grab the TeamGroup 4TB linked in the first para. The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $500. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more.
