The monster was in the fist episode but you didn't even know what that was in the first episode it could have been a dinosaur as far as you could tell from the first episode. There was nothing supernatural in the first episode to even suggest that it was. I don't believe that they are actually seeing those people anyway unless they are all dead then that would explain everything but otherwise its stress fatigue and group psychosis, its what they want to see and believe.

First off, the monster being a dinosaur would be science fiction and under your premise would have been jumping the shark considering that dinosaurs don't exist anymore.

As the them seeing other dead people, this isn't The Sixth Sense, this is Lost. It isn't stress fatigue because that doesn't explain how Shannon could see Walt in the jungle after he was kidnapped by The Others and why he was speaking backwards or how whenever something bad is about to happen you can hear whispers (Michael heard them right before he saw Christan in the boat if I'm not mistaken, which happened a lot in the first two seasons).

The show has always been full of science fiction. Maybe you didn't go into it with that mind-frame, but moving the island is really no different than some of the other crazy things that have happened.

If Lost had never had any science fiction/supernatural elements to it, I would understand where you're coming from, but it has, so your premise that they've just now jumped the shark, by definition is flat out wrong.

I'm really disappointed in Michael's character this season. I was expecting more from his character, but he really didn't do ****. The only thing Michael did to advance the storyline was get Ben information. I cannot think of anything else he did to move the story forward, so I'm not really sad to see his character finally go.

You can either rent the DVDs or watch full episodes on ABC.com. All four seasons are available.

Oh wow, the whole show! :)

Thank you!

I went into it with supernatural in mind ... I assumed the "monster" was a dinosaur or some other creature however there are limits. I mean if you go supernatural on something then do it. You cant just do it and mix it with half truths and lame explanations.

All those are explained by mind tricks under stress and fatigue. A person see what they want and believe what they want in those situations. Something of them could have been dreams as well there were several instances of them being dreams as well.

The show is built on drama not science fiction so in that aspect its extremely disappointing. All I am saying is that the finale was disappointing and I am not the only one that has said that. I know several people that have quit watching cause it has just gotten stale. No body likes to watch a show were something happens in season 1 and have it not explained till season 9 or whatever down the line. The island move has jumped the shark to me. I will probably keep watching just to see what happens but I wont go out of my way to catch an episode like I have in the past. I still think the show has gone down hill since season 1.

 Seriously? Heroes? You're a fan of Heroes which is clearly out there, even from the very first episode, yet you're willing to give up on Lost because they moved the island?

Exactly what questions from the first two seasons would you like answered, out of curiosity?

The numbers!!!

A problem with your logic. The "monster" isn't an animal. It's not a dinosaur or whatever. It is a machine. The most realistic is a "nanite cloud" which would allow it to imitate anything. That is one theory as to what the horse and other people like Hurley's friend were. The producers have always said that everything can be explained with science, however some of it is extreme bleeding edge like time travel.

I think in a way alot of people will lost interest because of the moving island thing but then again if you have got this far from the very start then you are a die hard fan and your thoughts won't change on what you saw.

The mooving the island thing (donkey wheel moment) was one of the many things which I loved in the finale. After the airing of the desmond time jump episode in s3 I had always known that time travel and bending of space-time fabric would play an important role in lost.

Here's a good explanation on how the moving of the island worked:

Fascinating. So I'm curious as to what those who thought that was jumping the shark think now that a physicist says what happened is theoretically possible.

Interesting theory. I was just listening to a podcast and they had a very interesting theory.

So the reason Charles Widmore wants to get to the island so bad is because he was once upon a time on the island and had to move it for whatever reason and in doing so, he ended up like Ben, banished.

He was so interested in the "Black Rock" book because he's looking for ways back to the island, that's one of the keys to getting back maybe? A loophole maybe?

I think that goes back to that article about the physics of the island, "I suspect that Ben, too, is a physicist—the one person who has figured out how to understand the connection between quantum theory and relativity, and to manipulate them—at least to some degree, just as he manipulates people. That's why Charles Widmore is so anxious to capture Ben alive. Only Ben really understands the physics."

Charles knows Ben is extremely knowledgeable about the island.

Very interesting link thanks for sharing!

Time-Travel Expert: Lost Finale Opens New Trap Door in Space

After last night's mind-bending episode, it's a question only this heady physicist could answer: How do you move an island, then show up halfway across the world? Let's just say the Looking Glass has nothin' on Ben.

MythBuster: Lost Finale's Bombs Were Crap, but I Get Big Picture

In an instant expert analysis for PM's Digital Hollywood, Lost geek Adam Savage traces the chemistry of those 500 pounds of C4, and explains why the space-time continuum from last night's Season Four finale changed his theories on the future of our favorite sci-fi show.

Thats a really good theory and one that would really make a sense but I still think Widmore as something do with Dharma in the past.

    • Did Labour lose big? They had losses there is no doubt. However let's look at the reality. The conservatives have 168 councils I believe. Labour have 113 and Reform...38. That's a lot of growth for Reform granted. But that is not a wipeout, Reform don't have the majoring in fact at 76 I believe the Liberal Democrats have nearly twice the councils Reform do. So I am thinking there is a lot more noise than signal going on here. Now then let's talk about the law. It's an age restriction. We do it for cigarettes, **** and alcohol. This idea that some kids will find there way around it so it's not worth even trying is really really sad. Hell we can't stop every murder. Should we stop trying there too? That is the logical conclusion.
