KnightWolf
The planet shown, from space, when they are in orbit...100% our earth. As in this planet we are sat on right now. couldn't see any major continents, if i missed em would love to see a screen shot of it, technically only 3 known cylons showed the "way", if so it must mean kara is the 5th, but it was already said the 5th is not in the fleet. and thought the "leader" was supposed to be dead by the time they got to "earth". seems to me all that was revealed was they landed on a planet, at one point in history people lived there, and something happened(war, or they just left... who knows). I'm kinda refusing to believe that this is the end of the line for them, also at the end of season 3 when they showed earth it looked pretty green to me. agree with me or not, im just giving my take on the show. Viserov
The 5th Cylon, I think, is either on Earth, or someone we thought was dead and left behind (Ellen, Adama's father or dead son, etc.) Also, someone watch the last few seconds of the episode, when the camera is panning on everyone as they are looking at the destruction. Is it me, or is Tyron grinning/smirking? If so: bad editing, or plot point? Kushan
I don't think the final cylon is on earth - we know the final 5 age like humans do and earth looks to have been left in ruin for centuries. I have no idea where the 5th one must be, I'm guessing it's someone that's been killed already (because we've not had a cylon revealed like that yet and it'd be a pretty cool way to reveal the last). Interesting thought: Our sun is called "Sol" (hence where the term "solar" system comes in - there's only one solar system in the whole universe and that's ours), could Tigh's name be a possible hint that he does something bold enough that the people name the whole system after him? Is it me, or is Tyron grinning/smirking? If so: bad editing, or plot point? He's just smirking at thought of "all this just to come here". Thats what I think it looks like...you know that look. Also, Tory tried to hold Anders hand, but she got REJECTED. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 15, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) viserov, Tyron? Do you mean Galen Tyrol? I remember seeing him smiling and shaking his head. I guess he was shocked to see the ruins on Earth. Anyway, I agree with what Yggdrasilly said. Perhaps the Earth they found is "dead". At the very end of the episode, we saw a view of what appeared to be destroyed structures in the horizon. What if those structures are skyscrapers or buildings? Also, is it just me or did one of the humans use a Geiger counter on some soil that Adama picked up? If that's the case then the only explanation to the detected radiation is a nuclear war of some kind. What if World War 3 already happened and the humans on Earth destroyed themselves? Then centuries later, humans and cylons alike, arrive on Earth to see it already destroyed. I know, it's a long-shot but it could be the truth. Yggdrasilly
Yeah, the first thing I thought when seeing the horizon was that it looked like a destroyed city skyline. It seems to me like this is a future Earth, perhaps hundreds or thousands of years in 'our' future. And yeah, it looked like a counter of sorts that they used on the soil. Some kind of nuclear strike? [Also, this is just one city... Is there perhaps life on the rest of the planet?] One more nitpick... Did anyone notice that when they blew up the hub, that they said 'Commence Nuke-ular strike'? I just had to point that out... Nuclear/nucular is one of my pet peeves. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/593000-battlestar-galactica-season-4/page/17/#findComment-589483469 Share on other sites

.Neo
I still wonder if this is really "our" Earth. There isn't a single shot during the entire episode where we see a clear view of the planet's continents. Very unlike the last time they showed us Earth on Battlestar Galactica where the North American continent + our moon were clearly visible. I for one can't make up what planet this is just by looking at it: Nor are there any natural satellites (moons) visible: Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/593000-battlestar-galactica-season-4/page/17/#findComment-589483519 Share on other sites

Darrian
I hope it's not the end yet, because that was about the lamest ending ever. There is still a lot that needs to be explained, especially concerning what happened on this "Earth" and whether or not they choose to settle there. I really don't give a damn who the 5th Cylon is. Mathachew Veteran Posted June 15, 2008 Veteran Share Posted June 15, 2008 It's not the end. Too many unknowns and story to tell, though I really hope Moore doesn't put a bunch of filler crap episodes; some of the episodes this season weren't too great except for a small portion. It reminded me of the second season of Lost, which had extremely slow pacing with tiny bit here and there. I like the new mystery of what happened to the planet and look forward to when it returns. Yggdrasilly
^ Isn't Alpha Centauri a star? That said, this IS Battlestar Galactica, they could still be ANYWHERE. I mean, they lived on another planet called Caprica, yet we've never really discovered any habitable planets other than our own. Except when they found 'Earth', Gaeta said something like 'the constellations match up', so there's a good chance they're in the right place. I don't know why but I always thought it was a habitable planet. I remember reading about it somewhere. I still think it's Earth with a slight possibility that it's a different planet. As you said, they confirmed their location with known constellations. If it's actually Earth, then they arrived centuries after a global nuclear war of some kind. That explains the radiation they picked up with the Geiger counter and the destroyed structures in the horizon. *RedBull*
I'm thinking this falls in line with the quote "It happened before and will happen again". It's possible that is the planet which like Caprica, was destroyed by the Cylons. Now they arrive only to find it in the after math centuries later. The real question will be does this come to a happy conclusion or do the cylons end human existence? Personally I'm not into trusting D'anna, she was too quick to change her position. As for the Fith Cylon, It would have to be one of the hostages on the base ship. Not Roslin or Baltar, but one of the lesser ones. The question then is why didnt' she reveal who it was if she knew that one was on the ship. Finally, what's the deal with the two kids?
