iPod Touch 16gb review

Recommended Posts

i got a 80Gb Pod Classic, and a 16GB Touch,, i enjoy the touch above the classic, i rarely even use the classic anymore,, but i do enjoy the Classic over my 60GB 5th Gen. but the Touch does take the Cake

I don't understand why they're calling the 80 gig iPod the Classic when the 60 was out before it? BTW, I have a 60 Video iPod.

It is the "classic" style. Both the 80GB and 160GB are the iPod Classic now.

it'll sync podcasts no problem, on one of the screen shots i posted there was the latest dig video that got synced on there

Howdy - I'm afraid that the wireless iTunes Store does not automatically grab and sync podcasts. I've done a quick search on there using my Touch, but nope, PodCasts cannot be seen, subscribed, checked and downloaded :(

I'd love for this feature to be available - would be great to sync my podcasts when popping past a free wireless point.

Note that iTunes Wireless Store doesn't have videos yet, either - so hopefully both podcast and video is only a matter of time away...

Where are you guys shopping? My apple store has a wall of them that aren't really moving or they just restock quick I guess. I wasn't sure about buying one, but your review has convinced me. Off to the apple store I go.

Buy the way, how do you people carry your iPod Touch on your person? Just in your pocket? Since the screen is scratch resistant like the iPhone correct?

I purchrased mine at FutureShop (in canada). It doesn't matter where you purchase it, the prices are all the same. In terms of where i put it when i am walking around and how I store it, I just throw it in my pocket. I have ordered a case for it on ebay mainly for the back of it (i have had it for a week and the back is hella scracted up). The back is just like any other ipod where it is vulnerable to any and all sort of scratches.

Invisible shield. Got one for my 16Gb touch and its truely amazing. Apply it right and you don't even know its there. :)

Plus you can ram this thing in your pocket now and it not get scratched :)

I Love the Jailbreak, it'll tie me over until Apple release the proper SDK.

Got the SE K850i Today, and it compliments the touch so well.

Might write a review for it :)

Has anyone here that had a 30g video moved onto a 8 or 16g touch? I'm considering moving over to a touch and keeping my video to use wile skiing (this way I don't have to worry about breaking it). I have about 7.2g of music and really am not concerned about putting videos on it, although I would like to be able to fit a good amount of apps. (I can probably bring my music collection down to about 5g if needed to fit crucial apps. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to go with the 8g? Or should I just bite the bullet and go with the 16g for $100 more? Alternatively would it be a better idea to just scrap the idea and stick with the video? Thanks for your opinions guys, much appreciated.

So just the Invisible Shield? Just stick it in your pocket and everything is ok? No carrying case needed for protection?

So what kind of stuff do you have running on your Touch with Jailbreak? Is it easy to go back to the official firmware?

I believe if you just plug it in and hit "restore" in itunes it will remove jailbreak and bring it back to teh factory default.

A bunch of stuff, nintendo, mail, google maps, Tap Tap Revolution (like dance dance, but tappy tappy), tetris, VNC, SSH, IM client, notepad, dictionary, labyrinth and so on, there is jsut to many to name and the list is just getting bigger.

excellent review. Mine is on the way now. 16gb also, was looking for a decent review so I am glad it was here.

Good Job. Also when i get it expect a pm on the howto of hacking it

no worries, bring it on

Meh, i am about to order one of this i want the 16GB, but then i think about the $400...... and all the things i could buy with that money.

Does it really, REALLY worth it to spend that kind of money on this gadget??

Take in an old iPod, like a Shuffle, and get 10% off. I took in a broken 1G Shuffle for recycling and got the discount.

I want the ipod touch, not a shuffle or classic or nano.

but then again, does it really worth it, is it really that good of a gadget?

No, if you take another iPod in for recycling they can apply the 10% discount towards an iPod Touch. I'm just saying I had an old iPod Shuffle that didn't work anymore so it was a no brainer for me to take in. Worth it unless you can get more for eBaying whatever iPod you may already have, if any.

    • Being on GitHub doesn't make something safe. Like any unofficial scripts to do x or y this caters to people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If you want to do what this does, and you actually know what you're doing then write your own script (or maybe just add the reg keys yourself) if you don't have the ability to read and understand what a script is doing, and especially don't run it with elevated privileges. Or in this case just use an MSA, sign up the normal route, and stop trying to push water up hill
    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
