iPod Touch 16gb review

Recommended Posts

So just the Invisible Shield? Just stick it in your pocket and everything is ok? No carrying case needed for protection?

So what kind of stuff do you have running on your Touch with Jailbreak? Is it easy to go back to the official firmware?

You can key the thing with the Invisible Shield and it does nothing to the Device.

I've got a Video i Just shot with the K850i if you want it on youtube where I key the thing and nothing happens, this thing is all you need to protect your iPod.

The K850i now shoots video in 240x320 @ 30fps, and also saves SMS messages to the Mem Card or Phone mem, meaning no more stupid 95% inbox full rubbish.

The bottom bit of the phone is also touch sensitive.

Just a teaser until I get round to writing a full review. ;)

This thing is 10x better than the K800i, build quality, software quality, everything, is a lot better than I expected.

2 questions

- Can you use a stylus on it instead of your fingers?

- Does the Apple remote/FM tuner work as a remote? How bout othery 3rd party wired remotes?

I'll take a stab at #1. I don't have the ipod, but I do have an iphone.

No, a stylus wont work. I don't know about #2, however. I don't believe so, but I haven't tried it.

Sucks you can't use a stylus. Fingering it all the time leaves too much smudges.

It'll be horrible if you can't use the old remote with it. I'm guessing it should work. Apple really think cheating their customers in making them buy new gears for the "new" iPods is the right thing to do.

Take in an old iPod, like a Shuffle, and get 10% off. I took in a broken 1G Shuffle for recycling and got the discount.

Does that work with a broken (dead HD) 5g?

Meh, i am about to order one of this i want the 16GB, but then i think about the $400...... and all the things i could buy with that money.

Does it really, REALLY worth it to spend that kind of money on this gadget??

I'm still on the fence between an 8gig Nano, 160gig classic & the 16gig touch. They all have their pros & cons. Heck I might even wait for the touch 2nd gen. 32/64 gigs ftw!

But you're right. $400+tax is a lot of money & I can find numerous of things to do with all that dough.

With any iPod. I don't think they check if it works, after all you're taking it in for recycling or I guess environmental friendly disposal. My shuffle took a spin in the washer and didn't work. They didn't check and just took it.

i love it, i think it's really cool and with the offcial SDK coming out it has a lot of potential

definately. There will be some sick apps coming out for it and possibly themes?

I am posting from my ipod touch btw, very easy to use.

To answer someones question on the fm transmitter, i have an itrip ans a belkin dock for the car and they both work perfectly. Very good peice of kit

    • My wish list is: A trailer for Final Fantasy VII part 3 and a proper look at Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Not happening, but I'd kill for would be another game of any genre in the Frostpunk world and another game in the Detroit: Become Human world.
    • I tried Wino-Mail and had the same issue with it that I have with New Outlook: My two centurylink.net email accounts (one of which is my primary email account) refuse to work with either one, and sometimes refuse to even log in, even though ALL the relevant information is accurate. Thunderbird does not have this problem, so I'll stick with what works, thank you.
    • For me it has everything feature wise that I want. But boy the app sucks big time. This and Teams. Ever since they made the transition to WebView it has been slow AF. I mostly use both apps in the browser now because of too much memory being used by these 2 apps. Hoping that native versions are being worked upon.
    • Nearly 70% of Steam users now run Windows 11 by Taras Buria The May 2026 Steam Hardware & Software Survey results are now available on the official Steam website, showing Windows 11's continuous growth among the gaming audience. As of early June 2026, nearly 70% of all participants reported having a Windows 11-powered PC, while Windows 10's market share is steadily declining. According to Valve, in May 2026, Windows 11 increased its market share to 69.76% (+2.02 points), while Windows 10 dropped to 23.99% (-1.64 points). 64-bit Windows 7 is still showing up in Valve's reports, and apparently, about 0.07% of all survey participants still use the 17-year-old operating system. Valve no longer updates its client for Windows 7, but it still can access the platform, so the Windows 7 holdouts can stay away from newer Windows versions. Overall, 93.85% of all users run Windows (+0.38 points), while Linux is second with 3.99% (-0.53 points). macOS is third with at 2.16% (+0.15 points). The most popular Linux flavor is Arch Linux (0.35%), while macOS 26.4.1 is currently the dominant macOS release. On the hardware side, the most popular picks include an Intel processor (53.94% against AMD's 46.06%) with six cores (28.02%, -0.6 points), 16 GB of memory (41.14%, -0.28 points), and an NVIDIA graphics card (72.42%, with AMD having 19.13% and Intel 8.05%). The most popular graphics card on Steam is the desktop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (3.85%, -0.14 points), while the laptop RTX 4060 is second with 3.77%, and the RTX 3050 is third with 3.10%. The average amount of VRAM is 8GB (25.89%), and the dominant display resolution is the classic 1920x1080 pixels (51.89%, -0.32 points). As usual, you can find more details from the latest survey on the official website. The results for April 2026 are available here.
