Chuck

Recommended Posts

First episode...he saw Sarah kill someone then too and he got freaked out then as well. You would think at this point he is able to look past stuff like this.

Sometimes, I wonder if writers even think before writing up a script. Honestly...

What I'm trying to say is that they were different situations. This time, the guy was surrendering, placing neither of them in any immediate threat. She killed him anyway, and that is what shocked him.

 and also that first time Chuck saw Sarah kill someone was in a flash, not in person.

I thought that his reaction was over-emphasized. She killed a man to protect chuck because she knew that if that man was detained that other fulcrum agents would be able to get to him.

Chuck knew this as well because he overheard the conversation. This was another sign of proof that Sarah still has feelings for Chuck

He didn't over hear the conversation, that's partially why he was shocked..

You will have time to catch up, it won't be back until February 2nd

Another six weeks before it airs? Oh well... It was a good episode to finish up there year, much better than some of the other shows out there.

'Chuck' exclusive: Scott Bakula spies pivotal role

scottbakula_l.jpg

Major casting news just in from TV's best comedy: Scott Bakula is Chuck's dad!

Chuck boss Josh Schwartz confirms to me exclusively that Bakula has inked a deal to play the estranged father of Zachary Levi's title character in at least three episodes.

"Chuck made a promise to his sister, Ellie [sarah Lancaster], that he was going to find their dad in time for her wedding," Schwartz explains. "And it's something that Chuck becomes consumed with pursuing during the second half of the season.

"But when he finds him, he's not necessarily a guy who wants to be found," Schwartz continues. "He's living in a trailer, he's disheveled, he's paranoid and he's claiming constantly that Ted Roark [Chevy Chase] -- who he used to work with -- stole all his ideas from him. And Ted Roark has now become this super-successful software billionaire, and Chuck's dad has become an eccentric, living in the shadows."

Look for Bakula's arc to kick off in April.

Other news at NBC's session:

* "The Philanthropist" with Jesse L. Martin, Neve Campbell and James Purefoy is still on tap for a potential midseason bow -- which would make for an even busier spring for new NBC series. According to Bromstad, movement on the show was delayed after thesp James Purefoy pulled a hamstring; he's since healed.

* Bromstad said "Lipstick Jungle" isn't dead -- at least not yet -- but the long-term future of shows like "Chuck" and "Life" are also still uncertain.

* The Peacock also announced that Conan O'Brien's last night on "Late Night" will be Feb. 20, with Jimmy Fallon taking over on March 2.

* NBC's Amy Poehler show -- still untitled -- will air Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. (in place of "Kath and Kim") starting April 9, while reality competish "The Chopping Block" will air Wednesdays at 8 starting March 11.

* As previously noted, "Kings" with Ian McShane -- originally slated for Thursdays -- will air on Sundays at 8 p.m. beginning in March.

Chevy Chase will be joining Chuck for a few episodes...

Chase has signed on to join the cast of the spy comedy for three episodes late this season, playing "a mega-billionaire in the new-media business" who's accused by Chuck's returned father of stealing ideas. He's just the latest in the increasingly-long line of high-profile guest-stars for the show; in addition to Richie and Alias' Carl Lumbly, we're still waiting on appearances from Lost's Dominic Monaghan and Battlestar Galactica's Tricia Helfer.

Chuck - More on Scott Bakula and Chevy Chase

You already know that Scott Bakula will be playing Zachary Levi's dad on Chuck later this season. But now, thanks to the NBC publicity machine, we know a little bit more about what he'll be doing on the show.

Earlier in the season, Chuck (Levi) promised his sister, Ellie (Sarah Lancaster), that he'd find their estranged dad before her wedding to Captain Awesome (Ryan McPartlin). He'll accomplish that task later this season, but when he does track his father down, he's not quite prepared for what he finds.

The elder Bartowski (Bakula), Chuck discovers, is a paranoid mess of a man who lives in a trailer who claims that software magnate Ted Roark has stolen all his ideas.

Roark will be played by Chevy Chase, who signed on for a three-episode arc earlier this month. Chuck has long looked up to Roark -- and has few lingering feelings for his absent dad -- but presumably the discovery that Roark and his dad used to work together will cause Chuck to rethink things.

Bakula got the job, Chuck co-creator Josh Schwartz says, because he and fellow creator Chris Fedak are "huge Quantum Leap fans" and see the same ability to handle comedy, drama and action in him that they see in Levi.

NBC doesn't have exact airdates for Bakula's arc yet, but you can expect the episodes to air sometime in the spring.

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
