Chuck

Awesome episode(s), sort of annoyed that Shaw didn't die towards the end......with him alive there is a high chance IMO that he will return later to battle Chuck yet again.

So, about Chucks experience when he was young......does he basically have 2 intersects inside his brain? Can they work together to make him more efficient? Does the first one sort of act like a failsafe when the second one fails (like when he told Shaw he just had to "reboot")? So many questions, so much time till the next season!

I LOVED the episodes tonight. I am glad that NBC renewed and I will miss Chuck until it starts again latter this year or next year.

I was actually kinda sad that Chuck's dad died at the end and when the video message came on it wasn't him and was just a recorded message. :(

He now has 3. The pre-Intersect, the Intersect 1.0, and the Intersect 2.0. I wonder if the pre-Intersect will hold clues to his mother. It was a great finale though, it literally tied up all the storylines from this year and it opens a whole new can of worms for next year. I can't believe NBC is only renewing this show for 13 episodes, I'm hoping they get a back 9 or at least 6. I'm also amazed at how they continued the story extremely well even though they originally only had 13 to begin with.

Edit:

Although I'm thinking about it now. I thought they got the Intersect 1.0 out of this head last season, so maybe 2.

Bear in mind, Shaw doesn't have the Governor anymore and he's not "special" so he could end up being driven insane by the intersect...

Yeah, he did lose the Intersect 1.0, so only 2.

True, but it still took awhile for Chuck to be driven "insane" with the intersect, but, as you said, he went through the experience at a young age, so as you said he might special, which extended the time the period before he was driven insane.

Incorrect. The first intersect was just BLANK images or EMPTY files. Not a real intersect.

How can you be sure? It looked like it had images, and it was likely a work in progress when he activated it, but maybe it changed his brain in some way that allows him to essentially be a better candidate for being an intersect than other people.

On top of that, remember when Chuck's father threw the knife at him? He flashed virtually instantly (before the knife hit him) to be able to catch it. From what we have seen from Shaw, it takes him longer to flash (the time it took him to flash at the CIA meeting was much longer than it took Chuck to flash when his father threw the knife). We do not know the full contents of the first intersect, but maybe it somehow prepared his mind for future intersect integration, which allows him to use it more efficiently than other people?

Because his father said "empty files". All it did was show that Chuck's mind can take the intersect without being fried up.

I am also sure that Shaw can control when the intersect can be used and can't be used. We don't know how the Rings intersect works.

It's also possible that Shaw has more control of his emotions and chose not to flash....

Orion said "empty files", but he also said "you processed an incredible amount of data".... I think the show was implying that all the files were transferred to chuck and then deleted from the computers.... not that they were blank info.

Of course finding out what the pre-intersect is and where and who his mother is will be what the new season is about.

I think Chuck can also control his intersect, the reason he caught it when his father threw it, is because it was headed at his head. Remember when him and Shaw were getting ready to fight in the Buy More? Both Chuck and Shaw flashed on cue, showing Chuck had some level of control, being able to flash when needed, but not when he was in danger and needed to flash (like seen in the past).

It's also possible that Shaw has more control of his emotions and chose not to flash....

I think Chuck has the same control when needed......he has flashed in the past on impulse (like when attacked Lester), but he also flashed on cue multiple times when needed but before he was in direct danger. Obviously, Shaw doesn't have perfect control over the intersect, he did flash when something was mentioned (or shown, do not remember what triggered his flash that Chuck noticed), but he flashed on impulse, meaning he also can be pushed into flashing on something if he hears or sees something that he knows intel on. At the same time, as you said, I think he chose not to flash, not to show he has control over it, but to also hide from others that he was the intersect.....he may have flashed but chose not to use the information and take the hit, just to make Chuck look crazy to get him locked up.

Orion said "empty files", but he also said "you processed an incredible amount of data".... I think the show was implying that all the files were transferred to chuck and then deleted from the computers.... not that they were blank info.

Hmmm, will have to re-watch it again, I do not remember him mentioning empty files....it is possible he said that to hide what it really was from his son, as I do remember him telling him he processed an incredible amount of data. Like you said though, we will likely learn more about it in the future.

While he was "downloading", there WERE images. Then the screens go blank.

"Was a complete transfer... *looks around* Empty files... The whole system went into you. You processed an incredible amount of data."

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
