Sim City Societies

Well, I may be the only one who think the game is not THAT boring!!! But I've got a gripe with it, it's crashing ALOT. Crashing when you're moving around in your city and the game goes to AutoSave, crashing when you're trying to save a game (not autosave), crashing just too much to be fun.

I don't know if the game was tested on Vista X64, maybe i'm the problem. But all my other games works 100%.

I haven't even got it -- the reviews both from critics and players are so agreeing that I think this one seem to lack a lot of replayability from the lack of challenges and depth put into the game. :( It's sad, because I hadn't even heard of this one first and was very happy from seeing the screenshots and even descriptions. :( It looked like a fresh new look on the genre going more in depth with the city building. But I didn't expect them to throw out pretty much everything that was good from earlier games in the process to satisfy some sort of mindless 12 year old The Sims crowd. :(

.........

It's quite nice, if you enjoy The Sims, you're going to like this one. And I'm happy to say that the GFX are quite nice and not slow. You have a much better view of your city in this one. Far better than SC4.

But it's not SimCity 5. EA should do a sequel to SC4.

So yeah it's just not a SimCity game, I didn't think it would be from what I'd seen of it. I also like The Sims but this just didn't appeal to me, maybe I'll try it when it gets cheaper. They should have changed the name a bit more because people obviously expect and think they are buying SimCity5, leading to all these tears.

.....

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's going to be a SC5, since they (EA Games) are steering towards this new 'genre' for SimCity. Oh well, nothing lasts forever I suppose...

Well hopefully if they have poor sales they will wake up and go back to what they know works.

(N)(N) played it for a couple of hours and I was looking toward a more SC5 type of thing. Also I really hate how you can't really zoom out that far... I'm going to give it a couple of days to see if it grows on me...

Oh well, Back to the SC4 modding community I guess

    • I'd say the first one failed to be as popular as Apple anticipated, but the easy adjustment here is to make fewer of them next time around. It would only be a "flop" if it isn't possible for Apple to recover the design and factory tooling costs given the number of units sold, which I doubt would be the case. It isn't like no one bought them; it just failed to become the new hot phone of the year.
    • You're right that it does not follow the plain meaning of the word, but in this context, it is a legal term defined in 49 U.S.C. Kind of how "wire fraud" laws apply even if a physical wire was not used. Given that it is codified in law, and it isn't just automotive journalists that don't understand evolving technology, I highly doubt congress would change a well understood term just because technology makes the term slightly less actuate.
    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn weapons and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.
