Dom
Can you give me a hand? For some reason, my Keyboard "marks" the frets when i press them, but they dont "play" any note, and the board isnt getting them right also (even when i see them pressed on time) What could this be? i had the same problem with FoF... Dom
Strum?
Lingwo
you have to strum when you press a fret. It should be in the options as stum up and strum down, in frets on fire it was.
Dom
Wow... you're right, its kinda hard when you have to strum oO
Dom
Double post, wont let me edit... Is there anyway you can configure a joypad?, my wrist are suffering a lot from the keyboard
Shasoosh
you can configure and keyboard to gamepad software to work with GH3, the problem is that i don't know how all the keys are configured on a gamepad plus how to configure the whammy on my controller that will give the same effect. Dom
I at least got all the Frets configured correctly, mouse shouldnt be hard... Im using JoyToKey to Map the keyboard keys i use to my Joypad, plus, since im used to PS2 with no Strum, i binded the Strum key to every other key, that way i dont have to press it separately..., and my wrists doesnt suffer at all :), try JoyToKey :) EDIT: AFter a quick try, i cant configure whammy either..., its weird tho, the mapping is working under Windows Edited November 24, 2007 by Dom
Unimatrix Xero
i play with a x360 controller and all i have to do is to press the buttons i dont have to strum at all, at first i thought it was just because of easy, but medium is the same, my mate also has GHIII on the PC and he doesnt have to strum either,
Lingwo
So that defeats the purpose even more :p I don't know how any of you can play Guitar Hero with a controller. It should be called Controller Hero :p
leftyflip86
Notice: The Nvidia Geforce 8400 and 8500 cards have known issues on Vista machines with AMD CPUs. Has anyone with an 8400 or 8500 tried this on Vista and can confirm the issues? This is the only issue I have with my PC since I already meet the other recommended requirements. I don't mind running it on XP since I have a dual boot system. I just want to make sure beforehand so I know where to install it. I already have the game but can't play it until my birthday party (my brother bought it for me).
Dom
Btw, theres a Whammy key..., you can configure it to map all your 4 analog directions, and itll work like a charm :)
Shasoosh
sounds interesting. can you upload your profile?
Dom
I cannot upload my profile, dunno how to save it, but here's a screenshot... V: Strum Up E: Green Fret R: Red Fret U: Yellow Fret I: Blue Fret Orange Fret its still not configured :p... Im using a generic PS2-Style Joypad (2L Buttons, 2R Buttons, 2 Analogs, 4 Normal Buttons, Directional Pad and tons of useless Start and Turbo Buttons) If you dont know which key is which, open up the configuration in Control Panel of your Joystick, and press the buttons there, itll show you which buton is which and you can map them correctly in JoyToKey :)... PD: Imageshack sucks and im late for school because of this post... :p!

Shasoosh
thanks mate. i've got a weird problems with this game, its always configured P1 lefty (the green red yellow are backwards) when i change it in the game controls it will change back to lefty when game restarts. plus, and this is really beyond me, if im connected to the internet the game crushes to desktop when trying to find in game servers (i've tried disabling my firewall completely .. :\ only in vista though, in xp i can connect to servers etc'
Dom
You gotta disable lefty in the Keyboard options directly trough the Options menu in the Main Menu... For the servers, i dunno, im on XP and i dont remember either if i blocked the access to internet, or it simply cannot connect to the servers. Unimatrix Xero
there are various ports in the readme that it suggests that you open if your having problems, give ma a sec and i'll dig em out for you The game uses port 3074. If the computer running Guitar Hero III is behind a firewall and you are having difficulty with online functionality, try opening ports 80 TCP, 2270 UDP, 2280 UDP, 3074 TCP/UDP and 50000 UDP.
