Wam7
I dowload a 1.4G .tar file but when I try to extract it with WinRAR only 40 meg worth of files are showing up. What other program can I use to try and repair or open the file? regards Edited January 17, 2003 by Wam7
sd_ba2271
Try PowerArchiver to open it. It could be that the file itself is damaged or incomplete, and it isn't WinRar causing the problem. www.powerarchiver.com
Sn00pY
try using the new WinZIP like 8.0 or something but like .tar is linux based in essence so WinRAR should be dead on if not go for an older DOS command based one...maybe? -Peace
CdCViRus
if 40 megs is all you get with WinRAR, then the file is either incomplete, or damaged PERIOD P.S. me wonders what this file is
Steven P. Administrators Posted January 17, 2003 Administrators Share Posted January 17, 2003 you could try http://www.winace.com that also has support for tar files
morganpugh84
if you can put it on a linux or unix system and then run the following command tar xvf filename.tar this will extract it to the dir you are in, make sure you are in the same dir as the file is, if not then put the absolute path.
