DELTETHISACCOUNT
Wow, that's some winner logic you got there. Apparently it is. It's not the same what so ever. It means users who dont want to use the iPhone for the phone functionality can get it to use other services. If people don't want to use the iPhone for the phone functionality, why not just get an iTouch? That's what it's there for. It's for people who want the full advantages of the iPhone, minus the phone. Plus, it's much better than trying to take advantage of a plan that's only for the hearing impaired. Does AT&T offer it's hearing impaired plan to anyone for any other phone? Didn't think so. So why is it such a big deal with the iPhone? Oh right, people just want to rip a company off, save a buck, and look trendy with their crippled iPhone while doing it. Sad. DELTETHISACCOUNT
iTouch = no text messaging. People (deaf or not) obviously want text messaging. Like I said, an iTouch is an iPhone minus the phone features. Text messaging is a phone feature. $30 a month for text messaging? That's about $360 with a 2-year contract before taxes. You can buy another iTouch for that much money. Cmon now, save some money, connect to a Wi-Fi spot, and send an email or something. What's sad is you thinking the consumer is in the wrong for wanting options. On the concept of people ripping off a company, now that's just funny. You sure you don't work for AT&T? ßéár
I think that they should i mean for people who have hearing disabilities; The for the none hearing disabled I think there should be a plan but little more spendy (like 5 USD more) if you don't like it too bad. what about those handicapped parking spaces do you want to talk those away too? No. I think people who physical can't use or barely can use it should be able to have such plans. So why is it such a big deal with the iPhone? Oh right, people just want to rip a company off, save a buck, and look trendy with their crippled iPhone while doing it. Sad. But then again, phone's aren't marketable to people who are hearing impaired, right? so what's the point if nobody's gonna use the phone as a phone? The iPhone data plan means that it's being used like a Broadband card - something that's data plan only, except they are also paying for the iPhone. That makes more money than renting out a broadband card, since people don't buy laptops from ATT. iPhones are almost as capable as computers, except with limitations and the ability to data transfer. Who would use their laptop to make a call? So why force those people to use voice if they don't WANT to, when they want to text only? Remember that the iPhone is not just a phone (according to apple) but an iPod, and a browser. Like I said, an iTouch is an iPhone minus the phone features. Text messaging is a phone feature.$30 a month for text messaging? That's about $360 with a 2-year contract before taxes. You can buy another iTouch for that much money. Cmon now, save some money, connect to a Wi-Fi spot, and send an email or something. Seriously? what happens if they don't have any hotspots to mooch wifi from? Then how would they be able to call? Because the iPod Touch does not offer Text, and the iPhone does. Text Messages couldn't be sent without the data call, and iPod Touch doesn't have that capability, only wifi. Also, not all people can afford the huge bill for checking their email on their phone. Shouldn't a person only have to pay for what he uses? Many people don't even use their cells for voice, but for the text and data plans. Forcing someone to pay for what they don't use is unethical. Forcing someone to pay for what they don't use is unethical.I think this is what it comes down to. Noone wants to deny Deaf people the plan, not at all. But it's more a critical look at what plans should have been offered from day one. Many people could likely benefit from a data only plan regardless of whether they are deaf or not. It would be good for everyone to have the option and ultimatly, while it may mean some customers may pay less, it could also win them new customers too. The Gunslinger
Damn, cant believe I am about to defend AT&T...I feel dirty. the way I see it is this: AT&T are not obligated to give out data only plans. The plan they did introduce was to cater to a new market a.k.a. the deaf. This plan made sense, since it would benefit the deaf and the company. Deaf people would have a lower subscription, and the company makes money they otherwise would not have made. This is what ****es me off...If you cant afford the phone, or dont want to pay the high price, thne get another F@#$%$#^ phone. Dont bitch about someone else getting the phone for a lower price overall. These guys that complained are like kids...
