Windows Vista SP1 Release Candidate (RC) Public

Will the final SP1 be slipstreamable with the Vista DVD?

I'm sure it will be as MS has to slipstream it somehow... You'll just have to download the standalone package I'm sure.

Well, I am running the RC and so far I see no problems.....no improvements either though. One thing I did notice is that one of my Ultimate "Extras" is now installed: Dreamscene (i think that is what it was called) is no longer listed as an available update. Only the BitLocker and Hold Em are available to install (I never installed them).

Noticed that too, but cant find dreamscene listed under wallpaper changes. Wierd...Where is Poirot?

any changes anybody see when installed sp1?

Nothing too obvious other than the improved a bit backup and restore center, exFAT filesystem support for external USB flash drives, and the VERY improved copy/move speed, well done MS (Y).

isn't that what sp's typically are, just a mass bundling of all the possible updates to that point?

What you said is a part of any service pack, but new features may be added as well, also some fixes that simply can't be released on Windows Update (Kernel updates, major file system changes, etc).

I've tried 3 different sound cards one of which being an audigy SE and I guess other people hare having the same issue

Make sure your chipset drivers are installed properly..this happened to me and that fixed it.

ya I installed the latest one of those too, last ones released was the July 2nd for the Nforce 430

which sucks, because I wanted to buy myself a podcasting USB microphone for Xmas, but doesn't do much good if the audio skips

    • Can confirm, I've built stuff for others and no complaints using their products.
    • Yes I agree, it's annoying. You can now miss tabs unless you point low enough.
