Windows Vista SP1 Release Candidate (RC) Public

The choppy audio always happens with realtek cards in my experiance with vista, but if you right click on the speaker icon and find "disable audio enhancements" or something it fixes it.

ya but the realtek with the audio enhancements is working perfectly, where as 3 PCI sound cards all skipped

With that changelog they finally and officially admitted that they released a beta OS a year ago.

Yes, because after an OS is released there should be no updates whatsoever! That would mean that it's a real final release!

Did anyone note this : Also coming with SP1 but not in the current release candidate, we will also be including updates that deal with two exploits we have seen, which can affect system stability for our customers. The OEM Bios exploit, which involves modifying system files and the BIOS of the motherboard to mimic a type of product activation performed on copies of Windows that are pre-installed by OEMs in the factory. The Grace Timer exploit, which attempts to reset the ?grace time? limit between installation and activation to something like the year 2099 in some cases. R[/b]omeo

I sure did - it's about time they caught up with the pirates!

As usual, the service pack is not even out yet and people with "oem" copies are using it with a simple workaround.

No No that's not what it means, it means that people that were hacking Vista with those time hacks/OEM bios hacks will be shut off cold (finally they caught up .....took them long enough)

Not really, people with pirated copies using time hacks / OEM bios are already safe from the wrath of the service pack. By the time SP1 actually comes out I'm sure even more mainstream methods will be devised, but that's what always happens anyway.

Is there anywhere to get this right now?

Watch Microsoft Download Center it's supposed to be released today for public, along with the final SP1 for Office 2007.

honestly, i don't know anyone who is using that method anymore, there are OEM copies of the OS floating around (such as dell and hp) that will run on any machine, not activate and be geniuine.
