[NFL] The Patriots Cameras

Recommended Posts

Even though this happened waaaaayyyyy at the beginning of the season, I feel this is somewhat interesting to talk about.

The Patriots are undefeated so far, and probably will not be. But, if they are undefeated, will the camera scam with the Jets affect them? Will it create the same effect of which Barry Bonds created?

Personally, I think they should have been forced to forfeit that game. They were caught cheating in the game, to me that taints the results and you can no longer say that it did or did not have a bearing on the outcome.

Which is why they are going to beat down the Jets like 90 - 10 in a couple weeks, and then you can't argue anything.

The 'scandal' doesn't taint this season, because it was the first game.

However, it can cast some doubt on previous seasons, including the other Super Bowls they have won.

You just can't make the argument it affects THIS season, because they are being closely watched now after they were caught.

And by the way, this isn't an incident that is unparalleled. Teams have always done things like flooding the field to slow down an opponent, and sign stealing has always been a part of sports.

Look into the recent book about the 'shot heard round the world' and the sign stealing that occurred there. They never forfeit games over that, and that was said to be going on for MONTHS of the season.

I agree with Aaron. They blatantly cheated in that game and they "paid" for it by losing a few draft picks (big whoop). There will always be a suspicion following New England after that incident.

The never have been found guilty of cheating, just guilty of "practices that could've lead to cheat" but the league never found any strong evidence that the tapes gave any advantage to the Patriots.

Still, it was in the first quarter, in the first game. 12 weeks later and they have been for the most of the season OBLITERATING the league.

Now, when you get caught in front of the nation and you know yourself guilty you apologize. Heck, even you drag yourself with shame away from it. In the other hand, if you know you are innocent and that you are beign threated unfairly then you would want to make a statement. Guess what the Pats have been doing.

And, about the original question, I hope this wont affect them.

Remember Brett Favre? everything has been forgiven and forgotten now.

Sounds to me like losing draft picks and a half a million in fines means that the league thought it was a pretty big time offense.

Also, what about Favre? I remember he battled personal demons but I don't recall anything about his sportsmanship.

1 draft pick.

And the $750,000 in fines is completely unimportant. Thats nothing when you are making hundreds of millions of dollars on the team.

No idea what hes talking about with Favre, though.

eh, i say once caught cheating, you should be forced to forfeit the season. If you cant play fair, you dont play at all. Whos to say their undefeated record isnt because they have learned most of the other teams defensive and offensive signs? im pretty sure being 1 step ahead of the other team in football is the best way to really win. Of course, i dont really watch pro ball that much, due to how it has been turning out lately.

I don't even really think what the Pats did was a real scandal anyways, this kind of thing has been going on for years in sports, hell some teams in the NFL are probably doing it on a weekly basis, just not getting caught.

The Pats are in a league of their own and whatever anyone thinks about their cheating, it doesn't matter because they've won almost every game by a huge spread. I believe they were doing this partly because they wanted to show the league and everyone that they are capable of blowing other teams out without their so called 'scandal'.

    • Being on GitHub doesn't make something safe. Like any unofficial scripts to do x or y this caters to people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If you want to do what this does, and you actually know what you're doing then write your own script (or maybe just add the reg keys yourself) if you don't have the ability to read and understand what a script is doing, and especially don't run it with elevated privileges. Or in this case just use an MSA, sign up the normal route, and stop trying to push water up hill
    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
