Heroes Volume 3 : Villains

Well they did love him but because of the events that occurred including his death they didn't understand how he could be alive and Peter was never good enough as Nathan was to their Father.

I think this thread should be closed. Ponder about the next season in the new topic.

How are any of you guys trying to spout what ya think off as fact? We dont know what powers peter has. If he got all his powers back, why he wasnt healing up after he dropped nathan off? unless he has to re-absorb it all again. And there was someone else right next to nathan in the fire that peter left, but cant remember.

When they made the new formula, they said they could design it to give certain powers to who ever they wanted. This wasnt a random formula, it was one that had a pre-determined power in it. So if anything, peter should only have flight still. That is unless the formula also helps unlock the true power as well, which we could only assume then that peter should get back. Or maybe it was just his original power already in that needle, and he just got really lucky with getting it again.

But lets not going putting theory into facts place please :)

Not if we're still discussing volume three...

I think it's a safe assumption that Peter only got his original power back and not any others for the simple fact that he didn't heal and didn't just teleport. By having his original power, he could fly because he was near Nathan.

Assumption yes. Fact no. So many people though who put, Peter has his original back, as it is a fact. I say, lets wait and see when v4 starts up. Until we are for sure, lets just resume to calling them assumptions and try to steer away from setting stuff up as fact until it is as so.

We were told he would get his powers back, but they wouldnt be easy. His way seemed way to easy. Look, a needle on the ground, stick. Ya, his journey to the needle was tough, but I was hoping for a little more as well. I've taken into possibility that he has his original back, but also taking in others as well that could be plausible until shown otherwise.

What makes sense the most is that his original power is back. Anything else wouldn't be right since a person's genetic code is what defines their power. What will be difficult for Peter to get all of the ones he absorbed back because several of the powers he had are from people who no longer have them or are dead. If what is meant by "getting his powers back" is just the absorption one, then it probably applies to the path to get it. His reaction to the formula, though, was rather quick, as the two instances we've seen it used took more than three seconds.

With that said, I'm very confident in saying that Peter has his original back because it's what makes the most sense, but that doesn't mean the writers can't prove me wrong by going with something illogical, after all season's two and three were full of that.

For the "real" heroes, they are born with a certain power. The ones who were originally injected, they were given random powers. The new formula Suresh had made, made it possible for them to choose the powers given. So the syringe should have already had a pre-chosen power in it. The soldier got super strength, so who knows what else could have been in the syringe. Or like you said, they could easily write it in that the formula , instead of giving him 1 specific power, just instead re-activated his original.

Soldier got super strength because of his past, he was in iraq and saw his team get killed so he wanted to even the odds so he thought about that and got it.

Of course we don't know for sure but you have to admit its at least 90% sure he has his leeching ability back.

Of course :p But I'm a logical thinker, so I have to take in all perspectives.

Did the soldier really get strength because of his past and what he wanted? Cause whats to stop someone from just really wanting to control all space/time/matter? Would be a god with that want and syringe.

Well thats how I saw it, I might be wrong tho. My theory is slightly flawed when Ando wanted to be a time traveller and didn't get it just got a charge power.

True :p Didnt even think about ando, hes really not been much this whole time. Though I always wanted him to amount to something. Hopefully they dont go making his character a douche.

Hmm, just thought of this. The powers of everyone seem to reflect their personality in some way.

Nathan - wants to be president - president sign is a eagle - he flys like an eagle

Ando - side kick - power is now to help others be even more powerfull

Peter - was first a nurse helping everyone try and be a better person - gains his strength from others

Mat - detective - can read minds

Daphene - crippled - probably wished she could move faster - now shes the flash

Sylar - He wants to be in the spotlight - he steals others "light" but never gets enough

Claire and Hiro - have no connection for them though lol

For the mains that we have, it seems like the personality reflects the power sort of. The soldier got super strength because he was a brainwashed soldier, thinking mostly about brute strength. So maybe no matter how they edit the formula, the body might do its own thing.

They aren't going to make it that easy/stupid, as to you think about what you want to have and you have it.. It has to do with their inter being.. Ando is a support person, he is the Robin remember? So his ability is a support ability. At least that is my theory.

Uhh. It didn't let them choose what power the person got. It let them choose who they gave the powers to.

The syringe didn't have a power in it. It had the 'formula'. Thats all. They had no idea what ability Ando would get, although it was the same batch that the soldier and Peter took.

The formula activates the genes that cause an ability to manifest. Those genes, in Peter, give him the empath ability. Therefore, taking the formula restores that. Now, how Arthur would deactivate genes is another issue, but lets not get into that.

Yes, the powers have always been ironic. Thats kind of 'the thing' about them.

You're forgetting Nikki - the single mom who gets super strength.

Can't believe you can't work out Claire and Hiro.

Hiro was an office drone, stuck in a cubicle working a '9 to 5'. Gained the ability to control time.

Claire was a typical teenager who was getting hurt by her friends, schoolmates, family (dad not being around) etc. Gained the ability to be indestructible.

They could always choose who they wanted to give powers to. Thats the choice of if you want to poke them or not. The new formula was to be able to pick which powers you could give to a person.

Didnt feel liking thinking in too much about those 2 characters at that time. not hard to believe i hope, but great addition. Wonder what Adams history was like for him to get the same power? And Nikki was also a freak. split personalities/ghost of sister or whatnot. her power was confusing so I didnt want to bother adding her in.

What about Hiro's mom? She had the power to heal and restore, yet she was dieing. So did she take in what was ailing the others, but it just affected her in a different way, until she finally just had taken in too much? Was interested in that a little but didnt see much talk about it.

Didn't she always have that ability? That's why she wasn't killed in the fire that she was told killed her mom, no?

The first time Claire's ability manifested was after smashing her hand into a picture frame. She was tugging on a cheerleader outfit with the other cheerleader that Sylar killed when she fell back and cut her hand badly with glass.

That would be the first time she noticed it. She had it since birth seeing as she survived the fire her bio mom started when the company came for her.

I'm sure there would've been at least one instance in her 16 years prior to this where she would've been cut and healed rather quickly and noticed it. We can only go by what we've seen or read, not by major assumptions (like Aurthur using Isaac's power to know when and where for the catalyst).

Not really, i can't remember the last time i cut myself ;) Or maybe she could have cut herself and because it healed so fast she probably didn't even notice the cut and brushed it off as a close call?

Plus you have to remember we are still talking about science fiction...

They could always choose who they wanted to give powers to. Thats the choice of if you want to poke them or not. The new formula was to be able to pick which powers you could give to a person.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Nothing is ever stated that they would be able to give people specific powers. Go watch the last couple episodes again.

Besides the fact that there is one gigantic batch of formula that they take the syringes from, there is nothing stated that says 'hey, we know what this will give'.

The old formula didn't work. Thats why they needed the catalyst, because it would allow them to have a working formula.

Wonder what Adams history was like for him to get the same power?

We never got his entire backstory. Probably something about him being mistreated, etc.

And Nikki was also a freak. split personalities/ghost of sister or whatnot. her power was confusing so I didnt want to bother adding her in.

Her personality has nothing to do with her ability.

We didn't see enough of her to judge any of this.

Don't forget, Noah had the Haitian coming to wipe Claire's memory when she discovered her ability. He had done it before, they said as much in V1.

Which, come to think of it, shouldn't work because her brain would just heal the memories taken.

    • Google Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving for OpenAI by Pradeep Viswanathan Noam Shazeer is best known as one of the co-authors of the 2017 “Attention Is All You Need” paper, which introduced the Transformer architecture that now powers most large language models. He also worked on several major Google AI projects, including LaMDA, before leaving the company in 2021 to co-found Character.AI. He also authored the Sparsely-gated Mixture of Experts (2016) paper, which is popular among the AI community. After falling behind OpenAI and Anthropic a couple of years ago, Google brought Shazeer back in 2024 as part of a major deal with Character.AI. Through this deal, along with Noam, several other researchers returned to Google DeepMind. More recently, he was a vice president of engineering at Google and a technical co-lead for Gemini. Today, Noam Shazeer announced on X that he is leaving Google and joining OpenAI. In his post, Shazeer said it was a difficult decision to move on, adding that he was proud of the Google team and what it had built together. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman welcomed the move with a post of his own, saying Shazeer was one of the people he had most wanted to work with since OpenAI’s early days. Google has made strong progress with Gemini over the past year, closing the gap with OpenAI in several areas. But losing Noam Shazeer is a major talent setback for them, especially after bringing him back less than two years ago by spending a fortune. For OpenAI, the hire adds one of the industry’s most experienced language model researchers to a team that is already pushing ahead with ChatGPT, Codex, and its next generation of frontier models.
