Shift Linux pre 0.6 KDE 4

Recommended Posts

We plan on releasing Shift Linux pre 0.6 KDE 4 to Neowin today. This is a milestone for our Shift Linux staff, as we are one of the first distros to try the newest version of KDE.... released on the 11th of January.

Shift Linux is a Live CD that has a Ubuntu base, with a new installer as well as our large variety of packages. We are releasing without branding, but it is a complete distro. Please feel free to test it and report any bugs in our Shift Linux subforum. Please remember that it is a test version.

Just in case you guys want to rant, this is just Kubuntu with the newest KDE4 packages, along with added and removed applications. It's goal was to basically see what can be done with KDE4, and a 481MB filesize for this rough version is very promising. Shift KDE 0.6 will come with KDE 4 installed. And, I think we were the third to release a KDE4 distro? Kubuntu and Suse beat us, but its great to know that Neowin got right up there with the big guys.

We will look into it, but it sounds like a problem with Kopete itself.

Thanks for trying it out, and if you find any more bugs, just let us know ;)
