Been a NOD32 user for long time but changed to Kaspersky when NOD missed a couple of really bad trojans, Kaspersky caught them and cleaned them without a hitch.

You should see how many Adware/Spywares Kaspersky misses. Made my head spin. I'm happily using ESS.

wow... never have i been so disappointed in my life about a poll's results.

this is worse than when ppl chose gigabyte over asus a while back.

as 1 whose been testing av's for almost 2 years now, i think ill shed some light.

test environment: 1 xp desktop & laptop, 1 vista laptop.

avast = free. good 4 xp without internet connection. lacking on vista & server.

avira = free. encountered some adware.

avg = free. great 4 xp & vista with/without internet connection.

panda = not free. sort-of okay 4 xp & vista.

nod32 = not free. version 3 had problems, preferred 2.7.

kaspersky = not free. just crap.

trend micro = not free. even worse than kaspersky.

mcafee = not free. good 4 corporate.

bitdefender = not free. almost paid 4 this one. v10 & v11 good on xp - v11 good on vista.

and then there was norton. while it gave me problems in the past, it has definitely come a long way with it's latest release (2008). minimal footprint, blazing fast 'quik scan', never misses a trojan from my friends removable drives, easy to use, home network security, and won it's 35th consecutive virus bulletin award in 2007. norton av 2008 is the one i paid for and i don't regret it.

hope this provides a good guidline 4 purchasing your next av.

Maybe we should be the ones that shed some light to you. Kaspersky is not crap. It detects more trojans, it cleans up perfectly, it runs fine on the system.

Can you elaborate more on why you think that Kaspersky is crap?

past tense my friend, it 'did'. failing the vb100 award for xp doesn't help the majority out there still using or upgrading to xp, therefore it cannot call itself a serious contender for 'definitive best antivirus 2008'.

i am concerned when people are tricked into bying something that only half-works.

loads of false positives though :(

o my, apologies. i forgot to mention that all the tests were done before vb100 (2007) so yes there would be some discrepencies but like i mentioned, this is just to give an idea of various results and was not intended to slander any companies as i gave most of them a reasonable rating.

and at the end of the day, it's good that there is so much variety and one should indeed choose according to his/her individual taste/preference.

have you run extensive tests on kaspersky ?-- NO

does anyone think your ignorant views are frontpage news ? -- NO

keep your bias opinions to yourself and try to atleast make a valuable attempt at why you think a certain AV is decent. :pinch:

Avira AntiVir personel premium here no problems with it on xp or vista and infact the only time i ever saw a ad pop up was when i was running the free version of it but that was just to encourage me to buy the premium which i did

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates. Diagram faster with keyboard shortcuts. draw.io Desktop 30.2.4 changelog: Uses electron 42.4.1 Updates to draw.io core 30.2.4.
