F-Secure definitively.

I've tested almost everything : AVG, Avast ... Nod32, Kaspersky, Antivir, Norton, McAfee, Pc Cillin, F-secure really is a superior product which provides an unseen level of security.

For me the only ones which are close are Kaspersky, Bitdefender.

Woooh jwoernertech! You don't need to use CAPS for your message :p Anyway, I've been an AVG Free user for the past couple of years. However, I'm quite disappointed with the latest AVG Free 8.5 version. It tends to eat up a lot of resources and I'm not happy with the in-built anti-spyware. It seems to slow down my browsing experience due to the Anti-Spyware scanning the current webpage.

I have now removed AVG Free 8.5 from my main machine and I'm using the 30-day trial of NOD32. So far, so good. It's fast, sleek and very responsive! :) I'll be checking out other anti-virus programs in the next couple of days!

I use F-Prot ... its nice and lite. I'm also using Peer Guardian and Comodo. I figure between them all, it should pick up most everything. I keep careful track of software I use and I have all the apps I need. I just need to worry about websites and I've taken care of that too.

I WORK AS A RETAIL TECHNICAN... AND ALL I SEE IS VIRUS INFECTIONS...NOD 32 BY FAR HAS PICKED UP THING I THAT HAVE GOTTEN BY NORTON, AVG, AVAST, AND ONE CARE... ALSO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WEBROOT SPYSWEEPER FOR ANTI-SPYWARE...

Then as a ''Retail Technican'' (whatever that means), i suggest you get off the CAPS key. Jeez, im sure you're excited and all, but people can read normal text you know....

lol, ask your boss for a raise -> a dictionary may be needed

Just upgraded to Kaspersky 2009. Lighter, faster than version 7. (Y)

When I try to install this version over 7 it says that I have my old avg install and I should uninstall it before hmmm... it is so strange cause I got rid off avg long time ago when I install version 7 :(

That means there is an AVG registry key in there somewhere. Just do a search for 'AVG' through regedit and delete that key. <pause> carefully.

My work used Kaspersky a few months ago and it was horrible. All the machines with Windows 2000 slowed to a halt because it would scan the whole hard drive every time the thing was restarted. It would crash every hour upon updating and just never worked right. I was glad they ditched it although I'm not so sure about what they replaced it with (Lightspeed Systems).

I tried the new 2009 version of Kaspersky on my home computer last month and while I didn't have the same problems I witnessed at work and the cpu/memory usage wasn't too bad, the whole thing just felt bloated and there were so many different modules and things running I didn't like it so I returned to ESET Smart Security (NOD32 + Firewall + Antispyware) -- perfect suite imo.

I haven't in almost 2 years and just installed NOD and others over the course of the past week, none of them found anything. I suppose that's due to good computing practices and being smart about programs. Might leave it on just for kicks, and to say I have one installed.

    • they couldnt do W11 LTSC so the support lasts longer....
    • The fact that the pref is not enabled by default tells you that what you see is what you get...for now. Hopefully the final version will have all the quirks ironed out.
