Lol, 'configure' a virus scanner? Course it was. I had popups all the time telling me the database had been updated. I'd run a scan every months too.

I run Spybot, and Malwarebytes every few days, so I don't abuse my system. I just find it shocking all that stuff bypassed Nod somehow...

Avira AntiVir Premium on my main rig, and AntiVir free on my laptop.

I'd say ESET NOD32 is one of the best and I'm currently using it. I've tried AVG and had no prob with it, but it takes a lot of memory.

So ESET NOD32 ftw!

Best free AV would be Avast. NOD32 would be the best retail AV program.

For me, it's none other than NOD32 based solely on its minimal usage of memory.

As a long long time Kaspersky user myself, i finally found (almost a year ago since) that Avira Premium is the true king (Y)

Moved from NOD32 to Kaspersky, it is sooooooo much better. NOD32 = crummy

comodo internet security seems to work very well on windows 7 but i still use nod32 on vista.

moved from NOD32 AV which was excellent, to sunbelt software's Vipre, which is also outstanding and has excellent licensing options
