Canon 100mm macro vs. 60mm

Does anybody own either lens I?m looking to get a macro but I?m not sure what to get.

I?d like to be able to use it for light box work the extra reach of the 100mm is probably not needed but I?m still open to either lens.

Suggestions welcome

I've heard great things about both--just get whichever you can according to your budget. Look at the Tamron 90mm Macro as well for a cheaper option.

I do like the 60mm too but would want to see how close it can get. I'm not a fan of a long lens like the 100mm.

I had the same problem a while ago and after some searching on google i stumbled onto the following site with a pretty nice review of both lenses

After reading both reviews i decided to go with the 100mm lens.

im not a canon guy, but I will tell you this...the 100 will allow you to be further away from your subjects, so better for insect photography and stuff, but the 60 (I have the nikon 60mm macro) works beautifully for flowers and other objects.

Exactly! ?That is why I enjoy more shooting with a 105mm over ?a 60mm

Yep, makes some great bokeh. (portraits and such)

60mm's can be had for under 200$...especially if you find one used...they're pretty good deals.

one is efs and one is ef, pick whichever fits ur future bodies, eg. fullframe, 1 series only use ef

Very true moonman. I know look at this when I thinking of new lenses. Eventually I will be moving to 5D or what ever is out at that time.

My friend is looking at getting a new camera setup, and I told him not to get the 60 mm because it is sub-frame...

But then I found a VERY expensive but beautiful lens...
