can you unlock CDMA phones?

I've done a few searches and couldn't find any solid answers.

Not really, the best you would be able to do would be to have another provider activate your phone.

I read somewhere on some forum it is possible, but it is unlikely to get another provider to allow service of a phone that wasn't made for their system.

Things may change though with Verizon. I don't live in the states and don't have access to Verizons services or know the full way that Verizon will work.
