J.J. Abrams Makes Simon Pegg Cry, Confirms Running Time For ?Star Trek?

The veil of intense secrecy surrounding J.J. Abrams ?Star Trek? reboot may finally get lifted this November, according to TrekMovie.com. But there?s something you can take to the bank right now, Abrams told MTV News ? ?Star Trek? isn?t going to follow in the footsteps of ?The Dark Knight? and ?Watchmen.?

Alright, about two-thirds of the footsteps.

?It will be a two-hour movie,? Abrams said of the film?s running time. ?I?m sick of these two hours and forty-five minute movies. Seriously, it?s like I don?t have enough time to stay two hours and forty-five minutes. I?m exhausted just saying that twice. I can?t stand it.?

(You know what else exhausts Abrams? His ongoing fight with William Shatner. He clears all the confusion and offers up a final statement from J.J. Abrams to William Shatner on the MTV Movies homepage.)

As for what we?ll see come November, it?ll almost certainly be a trailer or teaser ? perhaps photos of the cast in their spanking new uniforms. Whatever it is will no doubt cause us to view the reboot in a new light. But will it make us cry? No, no it will not ? because we aren?t wusses like Simon Pegg.

?I showed Simon Pegg [footage] when we were at Comic-Con. I showed him this little trailer thing and it was my favorite thing ever,? Abrams said of a meeting with the man who would be Scotty. ?He literally started weeping. It was ridiculous. He was sitting there, I mean he must have been plastered. Because he was looking at my iPhone [crying].?

Star Trek costars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto go eyebrow crazy on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly.

In this issue, the mag talks about director J.J. Abrahms launching Spock (Quinto) and Kirk (Pine) back into space and the surprising secrets of next summer?s blockbuster.

EW even has first photos from their set visit. This Trek movie exclusive hits newsstands on Friday!

Star Trek: The Movie opens in theaters nationwide on May 8, 2009 and costars Eric Bana, Simon Pegg, Winona Ryder, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban and John Cho.

Those pics are awesome! They truelly look promising. Did anyone notice that the computer screens are looking totally different then the previous computer screens from Star Trek? It's probably a stupid question because everyone must have noticed that :p

The oddest thing to me is that shot of the bridge. It looks more advanced than any post TOS stuff! Makes this being "in cannon" even odder.

On the other hand, it does make the Enterprise show fit in a little better because the progression from what they had on their ship now fits better with what we see in the movie.

I actually had this vision of them going with the whole retro thing. The new look doesn't bother me much, it just contradicts what I imagined it to have turned out like.

Don't you think it would be kinda weird to have a movie set that's outdated by more than 50 years? It's a REFRESH, not a movie 100% faithfully based on the original series.

This movie is going to suck, trust me.

They should've set the movie in/around the latest point in the ST timeline.

Mmmmm....Coming from J.J. Abrahams?....I don't think so, although I would love to see Michael Bay to a Trek film
