J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Recommended Posts

At first I was like "NO WAY!" because the site showed the counter at 1 day 1 hour. Then I tried the site in IE and it gave me the correct page... strange. Anywho, here's a direct link to the trailers page:

Watching it in 720p, 1080p would quite literally bring the comp to a halt, it looked fantastic, I can't wait for this.

Star Trek, Transformers and Harry Potter, awesome set of films for next year.

Yeah 2009 will top 2008 I feel.

Yeah I agree. The trailer looks fantastic and there are so many other good movies coming out next year. 2009 is going to be a good year me thinks.

As a bit of a trekkie (well, Next Gen & DS9 only - and the movies of course) I'm not so sure. It looks like a fantastic action movie in its own right but just not sure about Star Trek and specifically using the original crew, etc.

Will have to wait and see and I will of course go and see it but... I'm not totally sold.

My Buddy over at Screenrant went to a special 20 minute screening of footage from ST with Zach Quinto, JJ Abrams and Chris Pine all being there and if you want to read the scenes he saw you can right here but this interested me the most!

SR: So are you signed up for more?

Chris Pine: It’s a standard three picture deal. But it depends on how well this one does, if there’ll be more.

Your buddy is one lucky man. :turned:

I share the same opinion. Being a bit of a trekkie as well, this move just doesn't speak Star Trek to me, especially with the way the trailer opens. When I saw this trailer in theaters I didn't know it was Star Trek till they showed the Enterprise being constructed.

    • The site is pretty sparse on features / tech specs. Can I plug it into a PC/hone/Switch via USB-C and use it as an external display? If so, what's the virtual resolution of the screen, the refresh rate, PPI of the image etc? Is the text crisp enough to use for coding at say 12pt? Is it good enough for playing dark games, like say Path of Exile 2? How about fast games like car racing games? Just how do they expect anyone to order this thing without giving out all this info?
