Bond 22 : Quantum of Solace

Recommended Posts

I must say that I didn't liked the last movie, to me they completely screwed James Bond, but it can be just me... Let wait and see that one...

Must just be you mate. Daniel Craig is an awesome Bond and Casino Royale was one of the best Bond films ever. IMHO of course. :p Though this new title does sound like an Indiana Jones flick. Indiana Jones And The Quantum of Solace LOL.

Casino Royal was awesome. The best Bond film IMO. I was never a Bond fan, but this one changed it for me. Great reboot to a dead series IMO

As for the title, it is odd, but I'll hold judgment 'til I see the film and understand why it was named that.

The next James Bond film is to be called Quantum of Solace, producers have confirmed.

The title is taken from one of a collection of short stories published by 007 creator Ian Fleming in 1960.

Producer Michael Wilson said the film would have "twice as much action" as 2006's Casino Royale, which saw Daniel Craig debut as the iconic secret agent.

The next outing, previously known by the name Bond 22, is partly being shot at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

At a press conference at the facility, reporters were shown a minute of footage from the new film, including Bond swinging on a rope after an explosion at an art gallery in Siena, Italy.

Another scene showed him meeting M - played by Dame Judi Dench - outside in the snow.

Filming on the movie has been taking place at Pinewood since November.

'Driven by revenge'

Kurylenko, who plays Bond girl Camille in the film, said that she has yet to film any scenes, but was working hard preparing for her role.

"I'm doing weapons training and body flight training for aerial scenes and stunt work for fighting," she said.

"My days are so long, and it's very physical. She's going to be very different from the previous Bond girls.

"She's a fighter. This girl is going to kick ass. She's on her own mission and she's driven by revenge."

It is as yet unclear whether Camille is a secret agent.

French actor Mathieu Amalric, who plays the villainous Dominic Greene, told reporters his character had "the smile of Tony Blair and the crazy eyes of Nicholas Sarkozy".

Actress Gemma Arterton plays an MI6 agent in the film and has already shot her love scenes with 007.

She said: "I felt like a giggly girl, and I felt so young and inexperienced - but I kissed James Bond!"

The 21-year-old, who recently starred in the St Trinian's film, said her Bond role is "not so frolicksome" and her character "fresh and young, not sultry and a femme fatale".

'Pretty prickly'

Dame Judi Dench, who returns for her sixth Bond film, said: "I get to do more in this one, which is brilliant."

She hinted that her character's relationship with Bond would be "pretty prickly".

Rumours about the name had grown after fans noticed that film studio Sony had bought the domain name quantumofsolace.com.

But co-producer Michael Wilson said the name had only been decided "a few days ago", adding the story's start point would be "literally an hour after the last film left off".

Asked if Casino Royale star Eva Green would appear in Quantum of Solace, co-producer Barbara Broccoli said: "There are no flashbacks in the film, but she's certainly on Bond's mind."

Director Marc Forster is in charge of work on the movie, which is due for release on 7 November.

As long as it is better than the last one, i really don't care what it is called.

ya the last one wasn't really that good. Other than the big car crash at the end. And him saying "Bond James Bond at the end" I mean it was still better than the 2nd to the last Bond movie, but thats not saying too much.

Yeah it does fit a Jones film name :p

The thing you need to understand about the Daniel Craig Bonds are that they are opportunities to start making Bonds on Flemming's stories again since many films back they stopped doing that. The stories maybe twisted and manipulated to fit time frames and previous stories and so forth but they still are coming from the typewriter of the dude who created all this.

I agree.

Daniel Craig rocks!

nice info! ;)

i am generally a bond fan as i like all the bond films but this new one (Casino Royale) was one of the best bond films in quite a long time.

looks like Olga Kurylenko is going to be in it to ;) ... that should be cool cause she was in Hitman (2007) and i thought her acting was better than i was expecting in that considering she played a ###### in it.

Casino Royale = 9/10 ... best bond film in quite a while and i was a big brosnan fan to.

whats the deal with people comparing this bond (casino royale) to Bourne? ... i think Casino Royale is EASILY better than the Bourne films especially the 2nd/3rd ones as those where just slightly better than average films... the first one i gave a 8/10, the 2nd/3rd i gave a 7/10 although the 3rd was slightly better than the 2nd one.... cause Daniel Craig's Bond is far more interesting than Matt Damon's Jason Bourne character... and no one can say i hate on matt damon either as i think the movie "Rounders" (1998) was great and he was the main star in it.

p.s. williamhook said above... "Die Another Day still remains my favourite, in my opinion." ... alot of people seem to hate that film on imdb.com in general although i dont know why as i thought overall Die Another Day was brosnan's 2nd best bond movie (brosnan's best was GoldenEye (1995))

I Agree, i thought casino royale was boring not a patch on the Bourne Ultimatum.

I have never seen Casino Royale but I will get to watch it one day, infact might rent it this weekend.

Any science geek here that can translate the title into simple English for me? Cuz that what it sounds like. :D

Well, I'm not science freak, but if I'm not mistaken, a quantum is some unit form of energy, and solace is just a fancy word for the sun. Take that as you will (I could very well be wrong, but until someone comes along and corrects me...).

I can't wait... Casino Royale was by far the best Bond movie I've ever seen, and I can't see anybody else but Daniel Craig as Bond anymore. He was absolutely perfect for the role.

I love how before CR came out everyone was whining and crying about him being bond.

For me as well, I can't see anybody else who could have done even half the job he did. :)

If Casino Royale (the new one) was the best Bond you've ever seen, you clearly have never seem another Bond flick. Sean Connery made the best Bond films, followed closely by the brilliant feat of Goldeneye starring Pierce Brosnan. Anyone who says this new guy is a better Bond than any of his predecessors has no taste in cinema.

Anyway, back on topic. Quantum of Solace? Seriously? Is it April 1st yet? I really hope they change it.

    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
    • Microsoft: Windows 11 could finally solve a major issue across AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has been trying to improve it, Windows 11 is definitely not flawless, as even today some issues are taking a year to publicly acknowledge. However, one area of trouble that may finally see much better results soon is graphics driver crashes. Work on graphics driver timeouts, also called Timeout and Detection Recovery (TDR), is not new as the latest WDDM 3.2 also has specific improvements regarding it. Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 3.2 is supported on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, with the upcoming version 26H2, TDR crash diagnosis could go to the next level as Microsoft is introducing a new DirectX 12 API feature called "DirectX Dump Files". Similar to how system memory dump files work when a system crashes or freezes or encounters any such major issue, DirectX Dump Files (DDF) will essentially record a snapshot of the GPU execution right at the moment a graphics-related crash or hang or freeze occurs, so that developers can better understand and diagnoze these TDR and timeout detection errors. The dump will be available as a .dxdmp file for analysis and it will be a comprehensive dump file generated with detailed insights about the hardware, drivers, Windows, as well as the affected application. This should be another welcome change in this department. Earlier at GDC 2026, when the technology was first debuted, Microsoft had shared more details regarding it. The company had explained how DDF is designed to gather data from every layer of the graphics stack into a single file, eliminating the need for developers to manually correlate logs from multiple tools. As mentioned above, the dump can contain a lot of useful details like GPU hardware state information such as register values, shader program counters, page fault virtual addresses, shader memory data, and command buffers. Alongside that, it also captures DirectX runtime and kernel information, including D3D objects, pipeline state objects, device error data, adapter details, and CPU call stacks. Microsoft says the feature has been built around two primary use cases: retail device removals and local device removals. The former allows developers to collect crash information from end users' systems in the field, while the latter helps QA teams and developers investigate issues on test machines. Developers will also be able to include up to 2 MB of custom application data through new D3D12 APIs, providing additional context for troubleshooting. In addition, Microsoft is introducing three dump collection modes ranging from zero-overhead capture, which has no runtime performance impact on supported hardware, to higher-detail modes that collect more vendor-specific debugging data. On compatible Tier 2 hardware, zero-overhead dumps will be enabled by default, meaning developers may begin receiving useful crash diagnostics without making any code changes. The table below explains the three tiers: Tier Description NO_OVERHEAD Enables crash capture with no runtime cost and is suitable for broad deployment MEDIUM_OVERHEAD Provides a balance, capturing additional diagnostic data with moderate impact HIGH_OVERHEAD Collects the most detailed GPU and driver state available, enabling deeper investigation at the cost of higher runtime overhead In terms of availability, the company expects broader release to be around the fall of 2026, which should be right around the time when Windows 11 version 26H2 lands. Right now, DirectX Dump Files are available as a preview and currently, only AMD has the compatible AgilitySDK Developer Preview driver version 26.10.07.02. You can find the official announcement post here on Microsoft's website.
