While I was on connect, i came the realization that Powershell (and more specifically, the version in the screenshots) is version 2 of powershell, which is currently in beta and I just recently downloaded it and I am testing it now. I could think of many reasons, but this alone should be sufficient, why would Microsoft use a beta product in an alpha version of Windows 7. Granted, it would work but the Powershell team hasnt even finished the final release of Version 2, I also know that Microsoft uses the alpha / beta / rc versions in-house, but why would they put a beta version of an unfinished product in an alpha OS and later send it to key partners? I completely understand how Microsoft operates and have been following the company for 10 years.... But it just gets me that they would do something like that...

Fake...

Wow, you just publicly made a complete and utter fool out of yourself, you don't even understand how a keyboard shortcut works!

its evident from your sig that you need to go outside and play with the other kids in the sunshine.

I am surprised that Windows Power Shell does support 'ls' command that is originally from Linux system, what I know in XP do not have that command, but don't know about Vista.

Well that's why it's called Powershell and not just the normal command.com.

Windows PowerShell is a scripting add-on (similar to longtime NT CLI alternatives 4NT and TakeCommand or Linux' csh, a commonly-included alternative to the default Bourne Again Shell, or BASH) originally developed for XP/Server 2003 (however, it also works in Vista/Server 2008). V2 is currently in beta-testing.

Also, unlike 4NT or TakeCommand, Windows PowerShell has *always* been free.

Vista (x86): http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=79516&clcid=0x409

Vista (x64): http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=79517&clcid=0x409

Server 2003 SP1/R2 (x86): http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=75790&clcid=0x09

WPS is included in Server 2008.

Linux/UNIX-style scripting has been a big thing in most NT CLI alternatives. I remember seeing that option in not just TakeCommand/32, the longtime 9x/NT CLI alternative from JP Software, but the not-exactly-typical Hamilton C Shell for Win32, a pure C shell for Win32 operating systems (originally developed for Windows NT 3.5x, it also works on 9x, and all succeeding NT OSes up to XP). Also, the target userbase for WPS is the server admin, who may (and usually does) also have Linux/UNIX servers to run and would rather be able to use the same scripts to administer all the servers. With Windows PowerShell, now he (or she) can.

I know that, I made my comment because the guy said you can't do an LS in Windows XP. I was pointing out that you can't do it from command.com, but you can from Windows PowerShell.

I agree! The SS's u are seeing are really nothing. Does anyone REALLY believe that Windows 7 (code name I know) will look like that? Hell no!

It's possible BUT I doubt it. The whole point of the next windows version is its supposed to e faster! It wouldnt be faster if they chose to use the same old Vista them.

Vista used to look like XP till later in beta....why does no one remember this?

People have short memories.

Scirwode

short memory or selective? I think they just choose not to remember or just don't know any better as they weren't old enough or too old now. :)

(just kidding... geeze)

Anyways, lots of people just don't expect to see the "new" OS looking just like it does now. They expect to see some leaked video of 3D interface with some guy not using a mouse but using "minority report style" interface or something.

    • You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.
    • OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays
    • The only difference here is that you think you came up with these reasons. You didn't. These age old fearmongering lies (that were NEVER true) were funded by and the anger stoked by Putin through proxies like Farage (and later in the USA, Trump) and filtered down through the skinheads, Neonazis, etc. until it reached the uninformed, ignorant, and gullible -- never realizing they were being played for fools against their own best interests. Even now, despite all of the EVIDENCE proving that Brexit was a terrible mistake for ALL citizens of the UK and that its supporters were tricked by Putin's proxies into sabotaging their own nation, you're still here defending these well-known lies as if they were ever true. Not only are they not true. They NEVER were. So, when are you going to realize that you were lied to and actually get angry at the liars and charlatans who lied to you, instead of blaming the innocent people they lied to you about?
