Nice. Could be on the home stretch for SP3 becoming final now.

It's going to be interesting if Microsoft chooses to RTW Vista SP1 first or Windows XP SP3.

Downloading now, I believe this refresh is nothing more than maybe a dozen extra fixes.

I haven't notice any differences from Windows XP SP2 RTM to Windows XP SP3 RC. But people who hate Vista will tell you all sorts of stories and put up all sorts of 'proof' that Windows XP is t3h l33tz0r. Or something like that.

You should have noticed you don't need to download over 100 fixes from WU anymore for starters :)

I think that's the whole Service Pack reason :D. But I think the Vista SP is more intresting than the XP one, there are less intresting improvements in the XP SP.. I hope the Vista SP has..

For starters, SP3 is developed by the "sustained engineering" team, not the Windows team. Vista SP1 is developed by the Windows team (as were XP SP1 and XP SP2, for that matter).

SP1 actually brings performance improvements, and things like exFAT, whereas SP3 is just bugfixes and security fixes.

Just fixes. No updated DX. No WMP11 or IE7. I wish Microsoft would put those into the Service Pack but I think they decided against it; Microsoft don't want to appear to be bundling features with a Service Pack.

Slipstreamed it fits just fine on a 700MB CD. The Service Pack replaces a lot of existing Windows XP files.

SP3 seems to working right for me on my laptop. It just seems to have a problem where it will keep telling me that Windows is trying to acuire a network address, even though my network connection is working flawlessly.

It is nothing to do with people hating Vista. People testing SP3 with benchmarks have actually noted that there is a performance increase of to 10-15% on a lot of machines, which is impressive considering it wasn't a billed feature.

Just fixes. No updated DX. No WMP11 or IE7. I wish Microsoft would put those into the Service Pack but I think they decided against it; Microsoft don't want to appear to be bundling features with a Service Pack.

There is no point in them slipstreaming DX into it because they release new updated builds every 2 months and the files they included would become quickly obsolete. SP3 will still come with DX9c you will just have to apply the newest update when you install the OS which takes less than a minute. If you are hoping for DX10 you will never get it because it is specifically designed to work with the features of Vista. As for IE7 and WMP11 you could easily slipstream them in yourself using nLite and WMP11 integrator.

Unlike with Vista SP1, a more specific (likely) date hasn't leaked for XP. There's also no other product its release is at least loosely related to (Vista has Server 2008, which share the same code base) that makes estimating a date easier. All we know is that MS could choose any time between next month and the end of June. If I had to bet, I'd say sooner rather than later.

Before I can install the "refresh" I have to deinstall SP3 Beta.

But I did not found deinstall. Maybe I delated the deinstall!

Trying to delete sp3 info in Registry did not help.

Microsoft checked by install Procedure of "refresh" and found SP3 is

installed. How can I cancel the the checking Procedure from Microsoft?

How can I install the "refresh" without deinstalling SP3?
