its vista with a 7. lol

it will be better if they make this as a sp upgrade.

as long as they keep using kernel 6.1 which is what we have seen so far, it will be just like vista spX.... but once microsoft moves onto kernel 7 there will be some changes, maybe not in how it looks but definitely with the operating system.

I want borderless windows.
that will cost alot cause u have to buy a mac

There's a hidden settign in Vista that allows you to adjust the thickness of the windows borders, you can make them huge, or pretty much gone.

So you're saying XP was just a 2000 service pack ? you logic fails, there's more to an OS than just a kernel. and by your logic. 95% of Linux released are merely service packs since the linux kernel is still only version 2.4 . that's only two full versions yet ... :p

Just stop. Your posts make no sense.

Windows 2000 Professional - NT 5.0

Windows XP - NT 5.1

Guess which one beat the crap out of the other and is still dominating the market.

Windows Vista - NT 6.0

Windows 7 - NT 6.1

I think history might be repeating itself.

Although I think Vista is doing fine from both a technical and sales perspective, you are definitely onto a trend here.

I think persons are counting the versions wrong, Ed Bott based on his analysis has gotten it right.

A few people are wondering how you get to ?the seventh version? and thus qualify for the Windows 7 moniker. I don?t know the answer definitively, but can easily get to that point if I count only members of the NT family with numbers attached to their names: Windows NT 3.1 (yep, that was the very first release), 3.5, 4.0, 2000, XP, Vista. That?s six, making the next release number 7. If you try to count using the consumer versions from the Windows 9X family (or the barely usable Windows 1 and 2 releases), you?ll quickly go mad.

factcheck: 2.6.27

(sorry, with today's political points all scrutinized by a "factcheck", I could not resist) :p
