Insert > Page Number > Select a "Page X of Y"

That overwrites any previous footer I have.

I basically want my name in the center at the bottom, and 'Page x of x' on the right at the bottom.

Click where you want to place the number and under the "Page Number" menu choose "Current Position".

Cheers for your help but I went back with Office 2003. Had Office 2007 installed for months and months and it's frustrated me more and more over time.

I've give up with it until I have to use it (Y)

I don't get it why so many people can't get used to the Office 2007 interface. It's so logical that you don't even need to think!

No, it's not always. Not at all. I have installed Office 2007 on most of my friends and parents PCs and after weeks of trying it, they all wanted to go back. I was fed up of explaining where everything was to them! A personal example is how Office 2007 handles headers and footers. I preferred Office 2003's way (go to footer, choose the one of three locations you want text and insert the quick text for what you want - simple).

Don't continue posting about how amazing it is. The program winds me and many people up and although people on the Web seem to love it, most people I know (and I know a lot of people from varying backgrounds and jobs) hate it.

So let me get this right... You posted a hypothetical question posing as a real one (you didn't even have Office 2007 installed when creating this thread), when really what you wanted to do is to start a topic to complain and whinge about Office 2007?

No, I have Office 2007 installed but after 5/10 minutes of not being able to find it, it was the last thing that caused me to reach the end of my tether and I stuck Office 2003 back on.

Please don't answer if you don't have Office 2007, to save everyone's valuable time.

OK I got it reslolved as follows: Click on "Insert-->Header-->" (or Footer).

Customize the Header/Footer as you want in header/footer.

Click on "Page Number"->"Current Possition". You see a big list of templates.

Key is to SCROLL DOWN PATIENTLY and click on "Page X of Y".

I have to agree that Office 2007 makde our life more difficult.

I would expect a 100% backward compatibitly atleast on available options.

I have the same issue. I patiently followed the Help (F1) options and yes, it was confusing.

I found another misleading link below. Don't do what it says because "Page X of Y" already exists by default.

Hi guys,

Can anyone help me out with the code I need to insert "Page x of (y-2)"

Basically my document has a couple of pages at the front which will not be numbered, so I can't use a simple 'NumPages' for the "of y" bit (as it make it look like there are a couple of pages missing.

There are several section in the document, so I cant use SectionPages either.

I'm not that familiar with editing field codes, so if someone could let me know how I display the "number of pages - 2" I would be grateful!

Cheers

J

    • YouTube app is no longer compatible with several iPhones by Taras Buria Google is rolling out a new update for the YouTube app on iOS, and it is bad news for those still using an old iPhone. Starting with version 20.22.1, the latest release in the App Store, YouTube for iPhone now requires iOS 16 and newer. Previously, the app required a device with iOS 15 and newer. The new hardware requirement makes several iPhones incompatible with the latest version of the YouTube app. Those include the iPhone 6S / 6S Plus, iPhone 7 / 7 Plus, and the original iPhone SE. The seventh-generation iPod touch is also no longer compatible. On the iPad side, the update kicks out the second-generation iPad Air and the fourth-generation iPad mini. Although old iPhones can no longer install YouTube version 20.22.1 and newer, old versions continue working just fine. However, going forward, users will not receive new features and improvements. Also, at some point in the future, the app will stop working altogether. Another workaround is to use the web version of the app, but that also provides a limited experience compared to the up-to-date client. Google is not the only service that kicks out old and now unsupported Apple devices. Recently, WhatsApp developers dropped iPhones that cannot run iOS 15.1 or newer. The news is clearly a bummer for those who are still using their old iPhones, which, to Apple's credit, have a solid lifespan (as long as you are happy with the battery life). However, it is also worth keeping in mind that the iPhone 6S series was released almost a decade ago. Having ten years of support is impressive, but it is clearly time to move on. Perhaps my friend with his day-one iPhone 7 Black can finally consider buying something less ancient.
    • Guys have already appeared saying that Windows 11 ruined their lives, stole their bank password, killed their dog, kidnapped their mother and that's why they will never install Windows 11 again.
    • I think they start to use AI in Robots but in very early stage. I think in less than 20 years we will see these movies in real life
    • Uhh... how do you think current robots work? And do I really have to tell you the obvious...? That movies aren't real.
