Cf Card for my Canon Rebel Xt

Recommended Posts

There are lots of good cheap CF cards out there but trust me get the one with a good speed like SanDisk Extreme series, It makes a lot of difference when you are shooting continues.

They are a waste, especially for a rebel.

I mean when are you really going to need more then the 14 buffer, especially at only 3FPS (thats almost 5s of straight shooting)

Unless you spend $100 on a card and have a real need for it, you won't notice much of a difference.

Hell with my 40D, I don't use the 6.5FPS for more then a 6-7 frames at a time

I don't have 40D (only Rebel XTi), I saw lot of diffrence between transcent and scandisk and pricewise there isn't much of a diffrence.

No offense, but I don't believe you.

That or you don't have the 133x card.

using a PCMCIA adapter in my dad's laptop, I was able to read at about 12MB/s and write at 9MB/s with the 133x trancend

From what I have been reading, the 40D has the fastest write speed of any of the canon cameras currently in production, and it tops out at 12MB/s write or so.

Also the difference between $32 and 55 is pretty damn big

Most cameras can't write as fast as some of these 160 or 200x cards anyway, the speed comes from when you offload the card to the computer. I've used 80x and faster cards in my d1 and d200 and there isn't a huge speed increase. There is when using a firewire reader though.

I am going to be getting the 32GB ADATA card from newegg next month, 150$ is a steal for that much space, and it can serve as #1 man for my current 16GB card.

I got the 8GB RiData card from Newegg and it works wonders. It's a ton faster than my SanDisk Ultra II card. Honestly, when you buy SanDisk you're just paying for the name. You can get much better quality from other companies.

Why do you need 48gb of storage out in the field? Seems a bit much...

I don't need 48 gigs, at least not right now, but file sizes are growing increasingly large every new camera that comes out. The raw files on a d200 are about 16MB as it is, and if you were to stick with a digital back for medium format, you could have raw files in the 300MB range....thats what, 3 images per gig...16 gigs...thats only like 48 shots on a 16GB card....so you can see why i have so much space....future growth. Just 4 years ago i had to switch between 1 gig cards.

    • I did that to a work colleague many years ago when he left it logged in. Unfortunately I was out of the office the next day, and even the IT department was stumped lol. Got a bit of a bollocking when I got back into the office, but, by god, it was worth it.
