The Windows SDK for Windows Server? 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 provides the documentation, samples, header files, libraries, and tools (including C++ compilers) that you need to develop applications to run on Windows Server 2008 and the .NET Framework 3.5. To build and run .NET Framework applications, you must have the corresponding version of the .NET Framework installed.

This release of the Windows SDK supports Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 SP1, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Express Editions and the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Express Editions. Express Editions of Visual Studio are available to download from the Visual Studio Express site, free of charge.

This release of the Windows SDK supports x86, x64, and IA64 platforms for building and running applications onWindows XP SP2>,Windows Server 2003 R2>,Windows Vista>, andWindows Server 2008>.
