Front page news changes from today

Recommended Posts

From today we will be able to sync any Back Page News item directly into our NewsCP. It grabs the data you posted and then uses the forum posts for comments.

Submitting news has never been so easy! If we think a BPN article deserves front page exposure it makes it that much easier for our news staff to "promote it" to the front page, it will look like you yourself submitted it to the front page because it retains the OP name and also counts the amount of replies the topic gets in the forum in the old comment count spot.

This way our own commenting system is bypassed for promoted stories.

I'd like to thank Brad Butner for his hard work on realizing this feature, yet another great addition to Neowin.net and one that enables the community to really interact and be fully credited for the effort.

(Y) Good job, most of been hard to create; so nice work Developers. :)

I was wondering why this wasn't done a while ago, but I think it's great that we now have it. I noticed the "contributed by" on the latests posts and I knew something was different, just couldn't put my finger on it. Great work Brad! :D

It seems that we're still getting duplication of stories between the Front and Back pages with separate comments and posts.

Toshiba Officially Confirms Death of HD-DVD: Front page, Back page

Toshiba's HD-DVD future uncertain: Front page, Back page

Hopefully this is only temporary while the last bugs are being fixed?

In case of duplicate content you can use the report button to notify a moderator. Threads will most probably be merged then.

    • Yes for me, I installed 'old calculator' (Windows 7 calculator) in its place since it is more useful to me. I think paint is the only one I left installed
