Thanks for the info man, downloading now. I wanted to try this out, see how it runs.

I fired up VMWare 6 using XP SP2 and that .bat file isn't working I even tried manually typing the reg del and the reg add lines and still didn't get it in Windows Update. Is it because I'm running XP SP2 in a virtual machine? There is no sense in partitioning my hard drive just to see if this works or not.

Are you sure you don't have any other XP SP3 pre-releases installed in addition to SP2? I had that problem (I had the 3300 build), and I didn't realize that the original post said to remove any XP SP3 releases prior to RC2.

You might try a fresh install of XP SP2 in your VM as well. Other than that, I have no idea what else you could do to solve this. It wouldn't make sense to say that a certain hotfix is a prerequisite of XP SP3 RC2 because it is supposed to be a rollup of all the hotfixes, right? Maybe a certain version of the .NET framework is required or something?

If I install this, what are the chances of me being able to upgrade to SP3 final when its released?

The chances are most likely high if you aren't referring to doing a straight upgrade from RC2 to Final. If you want to do that, I'd say the chances aren't as good. If it is anything like the other pre-releases, you might require an uninstallation of RC2 before upgrading to Final. :/

Happened to me too. Clean install at that.

I was able to download directly from Microsoft, without any special registry changes.

Did not enjoy uninstalling SP3 RC1.

Was a scary moment when SP3 RC2 just stopped for a few minutes, but finally finished.

I hope this has fewer glitches than RC1.

I noticed RC2 is about 22 megs smaller than RC1 ... wonder why.

There was a noticable faster boot-up time, after RC2 was finished installing.

    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. Brave Browser 1.91.171 changelog: General Fixed Cardano not being disabled on upgrade to Brave Origin. Upgraded Chromium to 149.0.7827.103. • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
