This could be interesting...

^^ That's the Rights and Acquisitions Manager of BT Sport. It's a pretty inconspicuous tweet on its own, but it's been deleted (found it in a cached version of his feed), so that raises some eyebrows...

I just got told on Twitter there was also a deleted tweet of Chael Sonnen, but that one isn't in the cached page.

BT buying GFW? or buying TNA rights?

BT buying GFW? or buying TNA rights?

I'd imagine they're going after GFW (if they are going after anyone); TNA seem pretty happy on Challenge. Last I read, Impact Wrestling's the most-watched wrestling show here in the UK (just ignore the fact that they're on Freeview while WWE are on a pay channel, making it a bit of an unfair comparison).

For those unaware, there is currently a major tropical storm, called Erika, and it devastated the Caribbean Island of Dominica yesterday, and is now headed towards Tampa, FL.

Monday’s episode of WWE Raw is scheduled to take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL, however Florida Governor Rick Scott issued a state of emergency, saying Erika posed a “severe threat to the entire state.” The storm is weakening, and could be downgraded to a tropical depression by Saturday.

The Amalie Arena issued the following statement via its Facebook and Twitter accounts:

Amalie Arena and our partners at WWE are aware of Tropical Storm Erika’s potential impact to our area in advance of WWE Raw on Monday, August 31. At this time, the event is not cancelled.

However, we are keeping the storm top of mind. Any updates to this information will be made here and on amaliearena.com.

The last time Raw was postponed was following the Royal Rumble PPV this year, and WWE instead broadcast live from WWE Headquarters in Stamford, CT.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has once again demonstrated its desperation to lure marquee talent away from Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) Wrestling with the recent signing of Team 3D (now called The Dudley Boys).

WWE is notorious for scooping up any talent that has been discarded by the superior Nashville-based promotion, then subtly repackaging the wrestlers to avoid being sued by TNA over copyright infringement.

The signing of the Dudleys comes on the heels of WWE’s acquisition of Sting — another former TNA star who appeared earlier this year at WrestleMania (WWE’s half-assed version of TNA’s Bound for Glory).

Other TNA has-beens who have sought one last glimmer of the spotlight in WWE include Consequences Creed (now called Xavier Woods), Christian Cage (now called Christian), Black Reign (now called Goldust), Ron “The Truth” Killings (now called R-Truth), and Samoa Joe (now called Roman Reigns and in much better shape).

According to backstage sources, WWE is currently trying to recruit Tyrus, in hopes of repackaging him with a dancing dinosaur gimmick.

Discovery Communications has begun pulling Impact Wrestling off their schedule for overseas airings. Discovery En Espanol does not have any more episodes of the show listed on their schedule. The show was airing on Saturdays at 1pm but Impact has been replaced with back to back airings of a show called “Curiosity.” TNA had only been on the air in Latin American markets since June.

TNA has also been pulled from the schedule in Romania and Finland on Discovery-owned Eurosport. We also got word that they have been pulled from the Nuvolari channel in Italy.

This is probably a sign of what is to come since the word is that, according to an internal memo sent a few months ago (shared with Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer newsletter), Destination America was exercising their right to use their “opt out” clause in their deal with TNA and they do not plan on airing Impact after September.

We have reached out to Discovery for a statement.

    • It is silly there is no simple way to check whether this profile has been activated. CFRs are normal, but trying to even hide the fact if it's on / off seems silly, especially for something so user-facing. Surely Microsoft is "proud" of their engineering efforts on this one and ought to display it somwhere in the GUI.
    • Many Linux distros are not known for excellent battery life, so I'm not sure that is the best example. A more apt example may be Apple, but Apple's CPUs are simply far more efficient than Intel & AMD at single-threaded tasks like these, so "boosting" is not as power-hungry and less heat-inducing. Not to mention Apple will hardly engage P-cores for basic UI tasks; they use a pretty complicated QoS scheme to only activate P-cores for more serious workloads like HTML / JS execution or decompression or application launch. Microsoft is (smartly) doing it for launch, but also for UI tasks, which is the more nonsensical part: why ... do Windows 11's UIs need modern CPUs to boost? It should load so quickly that there's not even time for the CPU to boost.
    • I've not seen any controlled testing and, judging by Microsoft's mentality, within a year, they'll have added so much more bloat, it'll undo any perceptible latency benefit and we'll have boosted the CPU clocks for nothing.
    • It depends: heat soak is a thing. Initially on cold boot-up, the heatsinks & heatpipes are at ambient temp. After heatsinks & heatpipes warm up (through normal usage), they don't immediately cool to ambient temp when the load goes away. So their baseline is higher and the trigger point for fans is much less stress. Add a few more CPU spikes → it's too hot to stay at the same fan RPM → fans get triggered to start up up much sooner / get triggered to ramp much more quickly.
    • Can LibreOffice just shut up and worry about themselves and stop comparing themselves? Do we see Microsoft complaining about euro office?
